This is one of our member campgrounds so we only paid tax which was $12.00 for a two week stay. The campground shares space with the Grapeful Sisters Vineyard which was a treat. Hosts were very gracious and accomodating. Roads within the park were hard packed sand and roadbase, most sites nearly level, easy to level our coach. We were handed a cable TV box as we checked in and the quality was excellent. Water was good and pressure was 42 pounds coming out of our pressure regulator. Wi-Fi was excellent. In our two week stay, we only dropped Internet access once and that was due to an area wide power outage that lasted only moments. Good spacing between campers. The restrooms and laundry facility was like new, very clean. Pool was somewhat small, but clean. The owners are actively working to upgrade and improve their campground. We found the location convenient for day trips to the coast. It was about 14 miles to the nearest grocery store of any size, a smaller store within about four miles. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend Carrollwood to anyone looking for peace and quiet.
This campground is part of Ocean Canyon where we have a membership, so our stay was paid for through our membership. Not really free. Interior roads are rough asphalt, very narrow with curbs to control water run-off. Sites are hard-packed sand. Very little grass and the clubhouse and restrooms are old and in need of maintenance. Wireless Internet was available, but unreliable. Frequent server resets made accessing the Internet frustrating. We will not return.
Call beforehand to clarify directions to the park. Registration was quick and easy, staff were friendly. Large paved and level pull-thru pads. There is a long sidewalk parallel to the Mississippi river, where you can view the barges moving up and down the river. We found four restrooms/showers at the back of the main office. Staff suggested Nikki's for a place to eat, but this place only does breakfast and lunch. We did not find a family restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night, just fast food in town. We would stay here again.
Entry to this park must be made from the South. Coming from the North, you will need to make a u-turn. Registration was easy, staff were friendly and eager to answer our questions. The park accepts Good Sam, FMCA memberships for discounts. Interior park roads are gravel but the pull-thru parking pads were concrete and close to level. Wireless Internet was fast and reliable. We found only two restrooms/showers. They were clean and smelled fresh. We ran a fan at night to mask the traffic noise. We would stay here again.
