At the Southeastern edge of the Ocala National Forest, just outside the community of Paisley, Florida this is a well run campground. The camp host is friendly and informative. Delivery of firewood bundles to your site upon purchase, and ice is available for sale at the gatehouse. The hot showers are clean occasionally has some sand from people coming from the beach at the lake and can't rinse the floor after themselves. Very nice dish washing sink and counter between bathrooms. Water throughout the park between most sites. A few sites have water/electric. for RV'ers. The sites are spacious and shady with a large high canopy of oaks and pines. We even had an orange tree on our site with fruit. Roads are paved as are driveways to site to parking bumper. We came in on motorcycles, 2 tents 3 adults and 1 child and had a nice weekend. Quite a few other motorcycles here also tent camping. Easy ride to Daytona for end of bike week or ride through the forest rural roads. One family group adjacent was rather loud and obnoxious the first night, however 2nd night was on close watch to keep it down which they did. Voices carry easily in the quiet of the night through the trees. Beautiful park, everyone was pretty friendly and lots of families with kids. Nice beach and lake, not huge but nice. I would recommend keeping to the high side of the park as you get closer to the lake there is a definite down hill and if one of our Florida thundershowers comes through, could see how those would be in the path of the runoff. We were on site #5. We'll definitely go here again.
This park is part of the Ocala National Forest through recreation.gov. It's rustic and quiet and each site is quite private with heavy vegetation between sites. The restrooms are clean and showers are hot. Water spigots are conveniently placed between each campsite at the road. Nice dish washing pantry at the bath house. Camp hosts are extremely nice, stopping to chat or answer questions. Bear/raccoon proof trash containers are everywhere. Dirt sites and interior roads however that didn't deter our group on Touring motorcycles. Great riding in the area and stores are up the road. A firewood vendor up the road delivered firewood to our site for a couple bucks. We had a great time with 18 people and 12 bikes all tenting. There was a beach and a lake, very clean and nice. Sites all had lantern hangers, metal lattice picnic tables, fire rings and shade trees. We'd stay again, it's quiet and back to nature.
