We visited Pine Lake Campground during possibly the worst time...a Georgia-Alabama football game. When I called for reservations I was told that we would have to leave earlier than we wanted as all the spots were taken for the game. When a cancellation was made I was called and asked if I wanted to extend my stay to the originally requested date. Courtesy of this type rarely occurs any more. The campground was easy to find, the roads were certainly adequate for our 37' motor home towing a Honda Odyssey, and the campsites were wide and easy to get in and out of. The campsite surface was gravel rather than paving. It was smooth and very well packed. The entire campground was spotless. Adequate trash collection areas, complete with recycling bins, were available. There was a nice pet 'restroom' available and strictly enforced cleanup kept the park and nature trails clean. Simple and clear campground rules were provided at check in. Wi-fi was available, or so my laptop told me. Unfortunately I couldn't connect, but several other campers had no problem. I suspect that I have a problem with my Wi-Fi card. Two lakes are on the property. One is closed for fishing; the other is stocked. I can't vouch for the catfish, but I saw several bass when I was walking around the lake. There was a lot of duckweed on the lake, but that's all to the good for the bass fisherman and shouldn't hurt the person that wants a catfish or two. As the closest campground to Athens, GA, that I am aware of, this is an excellent destination campground for anyone with University of Georgia connections. It is a bit far off I-20 for a casual stop, but if you're looking for a spot for a couple of days relaxation the campground provides that, and the nearby towns provide excellent restaurants. Both my wife and I plan to return in the near future.

We spent 5 nights in this park while we visited family. The park is a good choice for the overnighter, easy to get to, quiet and clean. Negatives first. The pool was closed due to the time of year. The pond on the property was low. That had to be expected with the drought. The washrooms/toilet facilities were, while not dirty, at least dingy. They could use, at the minimum, a coat of paint. Both the showers and the toilet facilities were very small, almost claustrophobic. They were certainly built for people smaller than me. We had low water pressure and needed to change our water filter when we left. Positives. It is very easy to get to this campground from I-95. Rural atmosphere with pastures including cattle and ostrich next door. There are ducks and geese in and around the pond. There is no cable TV but good TV reception, somewhere around 25 channels, both standard and high definition. The host was friendly. The park was close to one of the larger outlet malls and to the JR discount store. I would not want to spend a lot of time at this campground if I had to use the shower/toilet facilities all the time. Also, I would be careful about the campground water supply. I am not certain that their water clogged my filter but am suspicious as the filter was white when I was setting up and chocolate when tearing down. Still, even with the negatives, it's a good place to overnight or spend a couple of days.

It is a nice park but when I made my reservation I told them I had a motor home. When I got there I found that I was assigned to a small, back-in plot that was so steep that my refrigerator would not work and my wife complained that walking up hill to get from the bedroom to the kitchen was not the way she wanted to get her exercise. The next morning I was able to get moved to another location. It was another back-in location but was nice and level. I hooked up and tried to drain my gray water tank. That's when I found out that the sewer connection to my site was clogged. I reported it immediately and was told that it would be taken care of. Each of the 3 days that I was at the site I reported this problem. Each day I was assured that it would be taken care of. It still wasn't fixed when we pulled out. The activities are great, and the people are friendly. The sites are a bit small and I was very glad that I didn't have anything bigger than 37'. It appears that infrastructure is not getting the maintenance it needs. We would visit this park again but not during a peak period and would be certain to be able to leave if adequate facilities were not provided.
