The park is very different and was not laid out by an RVer. There are water hookups at the front and back of many sites with 4 on each post. The electric seemed to have 2-30 amp. There was no reason for where the connections were placed. The Wi-Fi was very marginal. I got dropped several times when someone else loged on. If you went to the bathrooms you could get a better connection. They would do better callling it a hot spot. People seemed to park anyplace and not be concerned about lots. It was very loosely run but still nice.
Very appropriate name for the park. We followed the directions in the CG Book that said to follow the signs. There was 1 sign in Mackinaw City and no more. The road was so rough on the way that we could not go over 20 mph. The 10 miles was more like 15 miles. You will get a true idea of dark when you go out at night. There is nothing to do there unless you are a reader. I finished 2 books while sitting there a day. The park is nice but not worth the trip on those roads.
Friendly checkin. The site we had was as close to the highway as you could be. We put on the AC fan to cover the noise. The Wi-Fi would drop me off during the evening. It worked good at midnight. We would stay again if in the area.
Check in is great, sites are all shaded with a lot of trees and very large. The only objection is the owner riding around in his golf cart all day going up and down looking for someone to violate one of their rules. The so-called playground is a bunch of old rusty stuff that looks like it came from a yard sale. There were about 40 Bluebirds there when we were there and they were a very quiet crowd. They were told never to come back. The entire CG is mostly empty. We were there on a weekend in August and it was half empty. They have an oil well pumping at the front and I think they use the CG as a tax write-off. They seem happier without dealing with people.
This is still one of our favorite parks. The sites are well taken care of, and the boat traffic is a lot more than last year. I am referring to the large lake freighters that go past in front of your RV. There is not a lot for children provided in the area. Bring your own bikes and other playthings.
We have stayed there in past trips. This is the best CG for the West side of Toronto, Hamilton area. The people are friendly and helpful. We were there a couple of days and did a lot of sightseeing in the area. Everything was good.
This is one of our favorite parks. The spots vary from small to large with some pull-through sites. Electric is 30 or 50 amp depending on site chosen. The river front has a great view of the large freighters on the St. Clair River. Across the river is the Walpole Island Island Reserve that is in Ontario, Canada. There is not a lot of tourist activities in the area but relaxation and scenery are very good. This is NE of Detroit area and is usually very crowded on weekends and holidays.
