Not a bad place. Sites were a bit close to each other. I didn't have any problem with the lady in the office being rude like others have said. Maybe it was a different lady? The lady that checked me in was very thorough about things in the area, and gave me free toothpaste (maybe that's it...some people might think they are being told their breath stinks, and classified that as rude). Ha! REAL close to the Carlsbad Caverns, took less than 30 minutes to get there. Has a small gift/grocery shop, indoor pool, peddle bicycle thingys for the kids, turtles, and little horses to see. Not bad at all really. Yeah, the sites are gravel and dirt, but you ARE in the desert for goodness sake! This place was recommended by some fellow RV travelers, so this is why I stayed. Very happy during my time here. Yep, I'll camp here again if I'm in the area!
Great place for an overnight stay. Right next to a bunch of cows in a field, so it smells a bit at times when the wind blows, but that's OK, its Kansas! No shade, and hold on to your wig if the wind is blowing! The owners come around and collect the fee's in the evening, and are SUPER nice people. Very informative, and really nice. Didn't have to unhook the toad, as I was leaving first thing in the morning. Was gravel covered, with full utilities, WiFi worked. Will stay here again (most likely on my way back home). Very pleasant experience!
I stayed here for 6 nights. Staff was very friendly, even though 1 lady at check in, was a bit stuffy, but she improved over time. They won't give refunds if you decide to move on earlier than planned. I lost 2 days worth of fee's, because I left earlier than planned as I had done everything in the area that I wanted to do. Had minor rains a couple of times, but the staff was quick to "rough up" the dirt roads after the rain, so they didn't become muddy or packed. Very attentive staff as far as coming around frequently to make sure everyone was in compliance. Has a nice reasonably priced, gift shop with basic groceries, shirts, tourist stuff. Clean and well kept place. 7 or 8 miles south of downtown Santa Fe, but close to all the major roads and highways. I'd stay here again if in the area.
Stopped there while heading to Florida with my son over Christmas Break. VERY nice and clean place. Staff extremely cooperative and went to extra lengths to make my stay a pleasure. Would camp here again in a heartbeat.
We used AAA Auto Discount. Rear of the park is a lot nicer than the front. Long term residents' sites look like something out of the Beverly Hillbilly's, before they struck oil! Pay station was rather dirty, but we were escorted to our site as it was late night, which was nice. This was a pleasant overnight stay, with no problems. It is located close to the highway, so a perfect place to stop and get in quick with no problems. It is a little bit on the "red neck" side, but we would stay again if traveling through. We probably wouldn't stay long term though.
The cost is with AAA Auto Discount. This is a nice park with lots of wildlife. Office staff is busy at times with processing the boat rides and tend to be short with customers at times. Some of the long term people at times tend to think they need to tell us short term visitors what to do, which can be irritating. The guys driving the airboats were great. I went with my 16 year old, and he enjoyed it. Nice to be away from the city hub bub. We traveled in a motor home from the Kansas City area and were here for 5 days. We would definitely return.
