This is an excellent dry campground if your choose your site carefully. Campfires are allowed as well as generators between 8 and 8. Sites are roomy, tree covered, and fairly private. We have been camping here for over 30 years and love it. Fantastic fishing in Jackson Lake. Our average trout size was 17". Never failed to limit. Usually ended up feeding our neighbors! A great place for the family. Real camping.

This RV park is excellent in all regards, except for the incredible Highway 40 noise. Wow. You hear every 18 wheeler and diesel rig going East. If you have a motorhome with a bedroom that is pretty isolated you will be fine - but NOT with a trailer with a window above the bed. Would I stay there again - not with my current rig.

This is a very nice and very friendly place to camp - for a night or a month. The sites are roomy, surrounded with grass, a gurgling year round creek nearby (10'), and exceptionally friendly hosts. A real treat!

Great site for boon-docking. Primitive sites with no hookups. However, the isolation, view, nearby river access, and trees make this a wonderful place to stay for a night or two. The larger sites are limited. Get there early rather than later in the day.

This site is located north of Payson at the junction of State Hwy. 87 and the Houston Mesa Road/Forest Road (FR) 199. Turn east on FR 199 for 1/10 mile to the Houston Mesa Campground located on the north side of the road. Houston Mesa Horse Campground is located on the south side of the road. This is a very nice Tonto NFS campground. All the roads are paved, as are the sites. Picnic tables and small fire cooking bins are provided. This is a heavily wooded area in ponderosa pine forest location. More importantly, it only 1 mile from the town of Payson. A nice place for the family.

Although this RV park is located in the town of Payson, all the sites (and roads) are dirt and average in size. Some sites are level, some are not. No wifi is available and the TV reception can be marginal. The restrooms are excellent, as are the showers and swimming pool. The management is friendly except for the mostly absentee owners. They are a very different story - and don't much care for dogs! There are a few permanent residents living in rather modest RVs here which detract from the park's attempt to be upscale. If it were not for the full service sites, I think a much nicer RV spot would be just north of town (1 mile) in the Forest Service campground.
