Stayed 2 nights while on the road. Location was excellent for going to quilt museum and we enjoyed a walk down by the river where their flood walls are painted with murals & plaques about Paducah history - very interesting & worth checking out. Our site was very level, didn't need any blocks. Gravel roads and sites. It is a nice campground. Staff was very friendly & efficient, took us to our site and made sure all was okay. Garbage can at each site. Wi-Fi worked great and as did our Verizon hotspot. I needed to dry some clothes and was happy to see dryers that you could pay 50 cents for 20 minutes instead of $1.50 for 45 minutes. We would stay here again if in the area.
We had no discounts and I thought the price was a little high, but maybe the location being so close to everything allows them to charge that. Location was very handy, not too far to car museum and very close to the Natchez Trace info center and parkway. We thought the car museum and Natchez Trace are worth spending some time. The reviews I read on here made the campground seem a little better than what I thought of it. It was okay, had some really good points, but our site was very uneven and we really couldn't get our fifth wheel level. The dog areas had a lot of the round prickly balls from some tree and I saw an ant hill so didn't stick around long enough to see what kind of ants they were. Nice idea, but I felt better with our dog on the blacktop road. Campground has hilly roads, but they are black topped. We had a nice view of a birdbath and some bird feeders out our window, and across the lane were 3 horses. We did enjoy that. We would stay here again if in the area.
Very friendly staff who took us to our site and made sure everything was okay. Gravel sites, but we were very level. Pretty lake with nice path to walk around it (brochure said 1/2 mile). CG WiFi wasn't very strong for us, but our Verizon hotspot worked great. Got TV in without even raising antenna. Short drive to stores & places to eat. We were there just for an overnight stay while on the road and would stay here again.
We have stayed here 3 times now to visit family in Ames, Iowa (20 minutes away.) You can take I-35, but we prefer Hwy 69 from Story City to Ames. Our most recent stay was for 5 nights. No discounts available, was $25 a night water & electric. This is a nice campground and we'd recommend it. We also have had to call a couple times to reach the managers sometimes, but they are always very nice and very helpful. This weekend they were outside in the yard and very available. The sites are nice, water pressure good and the free WiFi worked great. Well lit at night. There are only a few sewer hookups in the front. We've only found a vacancy once. This time we stayed in site #14 & found it to be level and a nice location right next to the office, shower house and laundry building. This campground is literally right next to Story City: Subway, McDonalds, Pizza Ranch, etc., are actually within walking distance. We'll stay here again.
The management was helpful, friendly on the phone and when we got here. Campground is on the West side of Dubuque, and not very far outside of town. It was a very handy location for us. We came from Highway 20 and found it very easy to get to the campground. We lived in Dubuque several years ago, and found the town has expanded greatly. It is even better than it was 25 years ago. We have always liked Dubuque. There were a lot of campers the night we were here, and we were parked on the side by the road. However the park was very quiet, day and night and there was no traffic noise from the road. The sites are gravel and were reasonably level, the roads were paved and in good condition. There was a pool and shower house, but we didn't use either one. It was a nice place to stay and we may use it again, but we felt the price was kind of high. We paid $35 for full hook up, but could have paid $5 less without sewer hook up. There is a dump station available.
We camped here 2 nights while visiting family in the area. The camping area is pretty and it's very quiet with being off the highway a little over a mile. There is a county park in the same area and is within walking distance from camping area. But I don't think you'd allow young kids to go alone. The manager's wife I spoke with on the phone was helpful and very friendly. While we were here we saw the manager come through the campground several times; we felt he was available and willing to assist us. We couldn't park in the site we reserved because of low tree branches that would have been resting on our 5th wheel. There's quite a few that are in need of a trim. The road into the campground has a one-lane bridge that appears narrow, but we didn't have any problem crossing it. Some of the sites have gravel on them (but not very much)and some were only dirt and grass. The water had a strong sulfur smell. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with lack of use, we were here 2 nights and there were only 2 other campers in the campground. The manager said it had been a slow summer due to the drought. The bathrooms were pretty basic and clean. But there was no soap in dispensers by the sinks, and it appeared no one had dumped the waste baskets for quite a while. There were no outside garbage cans or dumpsters. There is a picnic pavilion and playground equipment at the campsite. This was a decent place. The manager and his wife seem to be nice people and willing to help in any way they can.
We stopped here for one night while on the road. Staff is very friendly & helpful. Lots of beautiful trees. Very handy to I-57 from exit 77. Restrooms/showers & laundry are modern, very clean & open 24 hours. Sites & roads are gravel, but very nicely done & kept up very well. Gravel is clean & large stone, so no mud. Waling through the grounds is like taking a walk in a peaceful park. They have about 30 chickens that run lose - but stay close to their coop - they're actually quite pretty & are entertaining to watch - and they're very friendly. Our dog looked at them, then ignored them. The managers offer each guest a half dozen fresh eggs! We would definitely stay here again.
Stayed one night while on the road. Easy on & off to I-30, only about a city block away from on-ramp. But large trees blocked most of the traffic noise so that wasn't a problem. They don't accept any discounts like Good Sam & only accept cash or check for payment. No Wi-Fi or cable TV (but our antenna worked well). Person checking us in was filling in & was very friendly & showed us to our site. Appears there are large number of permanent people. Gravel on roads & sites; our site was fairly level. Restrooms & showers were very outdated & not so nice. I was thankful we didn't need to use them. I noticed there were 4 washers & dryers, again pretty outdated & I didn't need to use them. We wouldn't stay here again.
Very nice place, we were impressed. Stayed here 7 nights. Streets & all sites are paved & well kept. Club House is also the RV office & is open 24 hours a day; laundry room, extra restrooms, big screen TV room included. Staff is professional & helpful. Laundry room needs updated - machines are pretty sad looking, but functioned okay. Kinder is small town & beyond small town grocery & a hardware store there isn't much shopping available. Additional shower/restroom available by camping site area. There are a couple very large grassy fields that are great for walking dogs. Buses are available on-call or flagging down for transportation to Casino. Or short 10 min. walk. Excellent Wi-Fi service. I liked the fact that if threat of tornado the buses would begin to pick up people in RV park & transport them to Casino for safety. We're not into gambling, but enjoyed eating at the Casino. $5 senior day buffet at one of the restaurants on Tuesdays if you have the (free) Advantage card from Casino.
Rate includes Good Sam Discount. We stayed here 8 days. Was decent campground. Close to downtown San Antonio & the River Walk - about 25 min. drive. Walmart & grocery store etc. a mile away. Roads were a little run down & rough blacktop on the edges. Sites were gravel, but we were able to put outdoor carpet down. Club house/meeting room with some exercise equip., was large & big screen TV. But it was only available from 8 - 11 in the morning. Activity directors with planned activities. Ice cream night, 50 cents scoop; movie & Bingo nights/ free popcorn; cost to play Bingo was used for prizes. There are a number of permanent trailer homes in the back section, where we were placed. But all were well kept & not objectionable. Two nice doggy play/agility areas. Laundry was large area & decent. There were 2 private shower/bathrooms located in laundry building plus there were 2 unheated buildings, but all toward the front of campground. Not enough for this size campground & none were handicap accessible. And they were pretty worn looking. Office people friendly & helpful.
Rate is based on weekly rate; electric was included. While this wasn't an exceptional place, it was decent enough. People in the office were friendly & very helpful. Laundry room was nice, but cost little more than most we've stayed at. They have a few activities - Bingo & potluck night. Fenced dog play area, but wasn't clean. I think they relied on people to pick up themselves & no one cleaned otherwise. In the middle of the park there was grass & trees, we were on the outer edge & it had more of a parking lot feeling to it. But there was a picnic table. Excellent doggy daycare only 3 miles away - Wagmore Pet Resort 9440 Dietz Elkhorn Rd Boerne, TX. Our dog loved it as much as we did - beautiful place!
We have reservations for 2 months at this park at the monthly rate. We are in our first week of our stay. We were so pleasantly surprised at the quality of this campground. After reading reviews and looking at pictures on line we decided to try this park for our first time of long term camping. Boy did we ever hit it right the first time. We love this place! The bathrooms/shower house and laundry facilities are kept immaculate. All roads and sites are paved and level; wonderful for bike riding. The grass even in Jan. is edged & kept very neat. There is no garbage anywhere and all dogs are kept on leashes. The club house is so nice and inviting. Well lit park. You feel very secure here. The managers of this campground are very friendly and do an excellent job. Their on site head of maintenance is very helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend this campground.
We stayed here one night on our way to New Caney, TX in our travel trailer. Campground was hard to find because it was a busy road and the sign was a small wood hand painted sign that only said RV and an arrow. The campground was down a narrow long lane and not visible from the road. The manager in the office was nice enough and gave us a Good Sam discount even though they are not a Good Sam campground - so we paid $32 after discount. There appeared to be some permanent campers in one section behind the office. We parked with one other camper in pull-through section that had 4 or 5 spaces. There were 4 or 5 campers in the back-in section on the side of the lake. The down side of this campground was a large empty run down building between the campsites and the office. The 'lake' was just there, nothing pretty about it. The showers were totally uncleaned and unkept; they were totally filthy. There was a lot of garbage inside and outside. They were single person men/women bathroom/shower. They looked so bad I wouldn't even go in, my husband stepped in and checked them out. Everything about this place looked run down and in need of repair. There was a porch light fixture on our power pole, but it wasn't working. We would not stay here again.
