This is a nice little campground. It has several loops to choose from. Most are shaded, with the exception of a few pull through sites. There is a small pond for fishing with a sandy beach area on one end. There is a play fort and some swings for the kids. There is also horse riding next door, if you're interested. Not much to do other than fish and just relax. Several miles to the nearest grocery store. Chatuge lake is also a few miles up the road.

We finally got a reservation, and we were in total agreement with the previous good reviews. Great beach, their own pier, little lagoon for the kids to swim in. We had a playground right across from our site. The only reason we gave it a 9 instead of a 10 was the lack of shade on our site. The website said it had partial shade. This was an overstatement. There may have been a couple of hours of shade a day. Other than that, everything was great.

Where to begin? We stayed at this park about 5 years ago and had a great time. We couldn't believe the bad reviews, until this latest trip. When we made reservations, we informed the woman taking the information that we had a 12 ft. pop-up that took up 24 ft. when extended, a tent, and an extra vehicle that we had to have room for. We were told they had a cancellation and could accommodate us. Upon arrival and check-in, we were given a site that was too small. There would not have been enough room for the pop-up and our vehicle, let alone the extras. After much ado, we were given the option of another site, which we saw was larger, so we took it. This was one of the last bits of good fortune we had concerning the campground. We were situated on the beach front road that was to be the scene of a loud, drunken, golf cart cruise fest that was to take place every single night of our stay. This review, as well as the previous reviews, will not do justice to the chaos we, and our 6, 8, 9, and 10 year old children experienced. From approximately 9 PM until 11 PM, the start of 'quiet time', we endured blaring music from our neighbors with sex filled and cursing language included. There were drunk teens turned loose by their parents in golf carts they were too young to operate even when sober.(You supposedly had to have a driver's license to rent/operate one.) Every other golf cart had loud, sometimes obscene music coming from it. There were fights between the drunken teenagers. Water balloon bombardment from a golf cart that hit my 8 year old. When my wife reprimanded the child to blame, the child's mother fussed at my wife, telling her to calm down and everyone was doing it. My brother-in-law and I were sprayed in the face by a water gun while in his truck returning from the store. Upon blessing out the culprit, we too were given the everyone's doing it excuse. The women's bathroom ran out of toilet paper one day, and the men's two days. In addition, the men's bath house was among the nastiest I have ever been in. It was sandy all the time. Fairly understandable. What isn't is crap smeared on one of the walls the entire week. To top it off, the last trip to the showers on the last night was greeted with a pile of crap in one of the shower stalls, which was then tracked out of the shower and rinsed and left in the sink. The only reasons this place got a 3 instead of a 1 were their reasonably priced camp store and their nice pools. Families, stay away from Pirateland "Family" Campground. We will never be back. We will, however, be back to Myrtle Beach. We love the area and had a great time away from the campground. Next time we will either stay at Ocean Lakes, or the state park.
