Needed an overnight stop on our way from Texas to Arizona. Whole park is gravel with mostly pull through sites and is just off of I-10. No traffic noise, and sites are roomy with hookups conveniently located. Close to food and fuel. Host couple met us when we arrived after hours to help us register which was very nice. We would stay here again.
We needed an overnight stop near I-10 West on our way from Texas to Arizona, and this park was just off the interstate - great location. Very little noise from traffic. Nice stop after driving through San Antonio traffic. Did not use the facilities. Staff was friendly & helpful.
This campground is filled with mostly winter Texans and the folks we met were very friendly. The park is older but well kept. The pool & hot tub were sparkling clean. The small laundromat had new machines. Lots of activities if you like to join in. Just 2 miles north of the World Birding Center which was fantastic. Nice area with tropical weather. We would definitely stay here again. The only negatives were gravel instead of cement pads, the water & electric hookups were too low to the ground, and our site was near a busy road so we had some traffic noise.
There are 2 bay areas for camping plus wooded areas as well. Stayed in a bayside site: 1 row away from water. Each site has covered picnic table water and electric. You can park your RV any way you want. There was a fishing pier nearby. We could hear airboats leave every morning before dawn which was a little annoying & duck hunters shooting before dawn a couple days. There was also a long fishing pier on the other side of the campground. We really enjoyed the birds in the area. We were able to photograph whooping cranes near the park as well. Loved the park and the area around Rockport/Corpus Christi. Would definitely stay here again. We camped for 7 nights.
Campground was next to the ocean with a fire ring and shelter over picnic table. It was nothing fancy and didn't give a higher rating because it was not full hookups. Besides camping fee there is a daily entry fee. We bought annual pass for $70 as we will camp in other Texas state parks. Pass also gives you a discount on camping fees. Nice location, friendly park staff and beautiful location near the beach. Would stay here again.
Arrived late on New Year's Day so office was closed but the self check in process was easy. Lots of seasonal camping but campground had designated sites for short stays. Nice small lake. Sites were all cement. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely stay here again.
Located conveniently off I-10. Staff very friendly. Sites were level, hookups conveniently located. Mostly big rigs parked for overnight stays. Quiet, clean and well maintained. We would camp here again.
