What a great park! We have been here 4 times now, (Evergreen 3 is the best site!!). Always a friendly staff. Our only complaint is that it seems as if the "full timers" get better treatment and special rules. Our 17 year old daughter was tracked down, while on a golf cart, and there were other kids, all weekend that were NO way 16 and they never had a thing said to them. I can understand the being 16 to drive the golf cart - but, why a license- IT IS A GOLFCART!!!! Anyway, besides that - the park is great. The beach and the lake are wonderful. We highly recommend this park.
What an excellent campground. This is our second visit to this campground and we came back because we loved it. The manmade lake is wonderful. They provide chairs at the beach and tables with umbrellas. Watch the little fishy nipping at your heels!! Not enough to keep you out of the water though. Try a snow cone at the beach bar, it's great!! It has 2 swimming pools, we didn't get in them, but, they appeared very clean. Basketball court, volleyball court. The park was 75% full but the amenities were not full. Highly recommend a mid-week stay, was not crowded at all. Wednesday we had the beach to ourselves. Staff (hosts mainly) were nice. Some of the ladies at the counter were a little bit "sarcastic" but, not enough to ruin the trip. Our host was very pleasant and helpful. We stayed at Evergreen 3 - an excellent 50 x 50 site. Far away from everything, but, close enough! Recommend an end site. Bath houses were very clean. My parents stayed in one of their cabins and it was great. Very clean and lots of room with a nice big deck. All sites are very level and for the most part have some shade. Some of the newer sites have less shade than others, but, still nice sites. Cable TV, what a great addition. It rained one day we were here and the kids loved it. Rented a golf cart. It was a little pricy, but they seem to be everywhere you go. Yes, the waterfront sites are for permanent residents but you can go right down and fish off the dock. We've caught something every time. Beautiful entrance into the campground. Price was very reasonable (I can't remember exactly what it was). Yes, it is an active campground but when it is "quiet time" the place seems to die! Hosts are very conscious about keeping safety in the area and ensuring everyone follows the rules. Highly recommended and we will be back.
Wow - the Super Sites are the bomb at this place!! We stayed down by the horse farm and it was sooo peaceful. The Super Sites are paved and huge. Worth the money. We were within walking distance of the pool. The trolley comes right to the campground and takes you to the beach. You can either pay $1 a trip or $5 for unlimited trips for 3 days. Well worth it. They had a band playing at the main pool - that was nice. But, we didn't realize this park was a French-Canadian owned campground. Not a bad thing - but be warned, alot of people don't speak English. That made it alittle difficult - but, for the main part - it was fine. The staff was very nice in the check-in office, but, the staff in the store left a little to be desired. You can rent golf carts there. We took our bikes and enjoyed morning rides. VERY nice park. The sites were completely level and the hook-ups were great. The other area of the park seemed nice too, we rode around. The sites seemed a little tight though and were all dirt. The concrete sites of the Super Sites made it very nice. There were Fifth Wheels in the regular section and they looked very crammed - pay the extra money and stay in the Super Site section. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They had mini-golf on site - $5 a person. We didn't play but it appeared clean. They also have an outside movie place for the kids. Lots going on. Main pool very crowded- other pools were not. Recommend.
Very nice state park. Campground is very far away from pool. Nice bike trails. VERY nice sites. Camp host was great. They had pull-through and back-in sites. Get one in the back, they are great. The pool was excellent. It has 2 slides and a huge pool. It has a kiddy pool with an activity center in the middle of it like you would find at Kings Dominion. Very quiet campground, the sites are spaced very nicely. We camped on Father's Day Sunday for 2 nights and there was noone there. Very easy to find. Recommend.
Hmm, what to say about this campground. Well, it is hard to give it a 100% accurate review as the day before we showed up the pool was struck by lightning and it was out of service. We tried to make the best of it deciding to go to the river and swim: WELL, you can't. Apparently a dock broke in the water and there are pieces of wood and nails floating around and they were sued, so, no swimming there either. They have a decent campground. But, with 2 teenagers, hardly enough to keep us occupied. We stayed in a back-in site and it was small. The awning went out, but, not enough room between our door and the railroad tie to put out our fake grass carpet. VERY woodsy. It was OK, but, not what I was expecting. Apparently they added some new cabins and they seemed nice. We won't go back, but, I would recommend it for someone who is totally looking for peace and quiet with no kids.
