There are a lot of great things about this RV park. It is quiet, the man at the gate was very nice. Our grand daughter took the horse back ride and loved it. The girl leading the horses was really great. The RV spots are large, but dirt, there was no privacy plants between the spots. There were bottle caps and garbage that wasn't cleaned up when we arrived at our spot. I never saw anyone cleaning up the RV spots. The pool area was clean and the pools were very nice. The last 1.3 miles was a one way road. There were 3 switch backs that you couldn't see around and they had mirrors that the driver coming down could see if there was someone coming, however the person coming up had no clue if there was someone in their path. We were towing a toad and it would have been hard for us to back up. Rancho Oso wants people leaving to use the road in the morning and the ones coming in to use it in the afternoon. That sorta of works but every time I used the road and met someone however not at the switch backs. I don't think my husband wants to drive that 1.3 miles again. As far as cell phone use you can go into the lodge, which is very nice and they have a booster and I was able to get an AT&T signal.
We have stayed here many times. The staff is wonderful. We had a problem with a slide out and they came to our rescue. We were late checking out because of this problem and they didn't charge us extra; told us not to worry about being late. Stores and restaurants are close. We needed directions and they went on the internet to get them for us. It is real clean and a great place to stay. My granddaughter loved the pool and taking the trails down to the river. We have reservations for next year.
We have stayed here several times. The spot we stayed in was a little tight for out 2 slides and parking our toad. The area around our Motorhome could have been a little cleaner. We had a little bit of an ocean view which was nice. They were helpful sending us to a good restaurant. It it easy to get in and out. About 5 miles to the grocery store. They are very friendly and kids are welcome. We have made reservations for New Years.
The RV park was great over all. The lagoon was great for the kids, the pool was fun, & there was lots for the kids to do. The one major problem was the planes. The planes start taking off from John Wayne airport in the morning, about one every 3 or 4 minutes. During the day they take off about every 15 minutes. They do stop at night. I couldn't even talk on my cell phone when they were taking off. The camping space was ok. It was sand & wide enough for our easyup. I do think it is a little pricy at $117.60 with the tax. It is a good family park.
This park is right on the river. The suckers on the trees and bushes need to be cut back so you can see the river better. Our camp sight was not real clean. I noticed after everyone pulled out on Sunday they didn't clean them before a new camper arrived. Our fire pit had trash in it, and we would have had to clean it before using it. I told them over the phone we had a pull trailer that we would back in. We wanted to stay an additional night so they moved us to another sight. It was a pull in and not a back in. We had to step over the hoses when we wanted to look at the river being careful not to trip on them. We got lost using the bridge and so did a lot of other people that were there. We had to use our GPS to find it. We used the ferry to leave which was easy. Just make sure it is full tide. There is nothing on the island so bring everything. They sell their ice for $4.88 which I felt was high. It is quiet; the camp sites are long and have some trees. Over all we liked it.
This is a great RV park. The rate was a little hard because we had extra people for a couple of nights and a tent. It was a holiday weekend so that is usually more, and they gave us 10% off for writing a check. The management is really helpful. The cable TV is great. We were able to watch a football game that we really wanted to see. They deliver wood to your site. Our kids used the pool and were happy with it. There was no charge for our 2 dogs. They let you pick the site you want and guarantee it. We have already booked for next year. The park has a lot of shade and the smell from the trees is wonderful.
We had a space right on the bay. People would walk between our space and the Bay. The spaces could have been a little cleaner. We had a hard time finding the office as well as other people. The spaces on the bay are deep and skinny. The cable TV was limited. The park needs to be updated. The people in the office were very friendly and helpful. It was full on the weekend, but pretty empty during the week. The fire pits are placed in a strange location. Our fire pit was next to the back of the trailer next to us.
This was out second stay at Pomo. They were very nice at check in. We got the exact space we requested. The spaces are very private, large and quiet. They have a good selection on the cable TV. We had a hard time getting our cell phone to work in our space. We would stay here again.
This is a parking lot over looking the ocean. We had an ocean view space. There is a walk way between our spot and the cliffs that looks down on the water. People go by constantly. There is an entrance that outsiders can also come in and walk by. We couldn't open our drapes because we looked directly in the next trailer. It was cold with a lot of wind. The people in the office were very nice and friendly. If you just want to park your unit somewhere and see San Francisco, it would be ok. We probably won't stay here again because of the closeness.
We stayed over the 4th of July weekend. The rates go up on the holidays and was more than I stated. We were on the upper level, with a little more wind. We could see all of the fireworks from the valley. This place is sand and gravel with no trees. I didn't see them clean the sites after someone left, but most picked up after themselves. The staff was very nice. Since it is back in the dunes, there is no freeway traffic.
This RV park was clean. The owners were very nice. We had a TV hookup problems and they were right there to solve it. The Wi-Fi was very good. I used it for several hours without any problems. The bridge everyone talks about is nothing. It is the width of one side of a regular bridge that you would think nothing about going over. It has a weight limit of 10 tons. The road is narrow about the last two blocks. We liked being tucked away at Saddleback Mountain where it was quiet and only the frogs made noise. Our spot was great. It was right next to the creek that was full of water. We sat in our lawn chairs on the grass watching the water go by. It was very relaxing. Some of the 40 foot rigs were a little tight in their spaces but everyone around us was very happy. It is about ten minutes from the beach and close to everything. The owners directed us to a fresh fish store that was excellent. We will be returning.
The park is clean and one of the best in the area. You can see the lake through the trees from some camp sites. The squirrels drop pine cones causing a few problems. The bears come out at night so you need to be careful. I made an error and wanted to extend our stay. The girls in the office were of no help, however the manager was able to solve the problem. We liked this RV park very much and got the spot we asked for. There is a restaurant right across the street along with a marina and a swimming area. The rates are different on the weekends and there is no charge for dogs. They were very dog friendly. We will be back.
This is a great place to stay if you want to be within walking distance to the town of Pismo and the beach. Dogs are very welcome. We have stayed here several times and find that there are a lot of older people that are very friendly. Some of them have purchased a membership in the RV park. They have free ice and the place is nice & clean. The one drawback is that the spaces are very tight and there is no grass or trees. The staff is friendly and helpful. They guided us into our space which was nice. We would stay here again
The people at this park were wonderful. My son had another camp site & they got him a drill when he had a hard time putting the tent stakes in the ground. They also help him find a place for tent parts. Our site was nice & shady with a beautiful view of the hillside and creek. We liked it so much we didn't want to leave. We booked another stay with them next year. Lots of kids riding their bikes. This is a very dog friendly park.
This RV campground is within walking distance to the ocean. Our spot had a nice view of Morro Rock. The grounds were clean & the staff was nice. It would be better if there was a little grass and trees but there wasn't. We will stay here again.
This camp ground is right next to Magic Mountain entertainment park. It is also close to the William S Hart museum. This RV park is good for a short stay. While we were there we watched them film a show for the animal channel. A gal does a show on dog behavior. The RV park was nice to let them use their area. I would stay here again,
This RV park has an outstanding view and it is clean. We had a 4 to 5 hour drive depending on the Los Angeles traffic. We arrived at noon and check in time was 1:00 p.m. I was told to come back at 1:00 & I asked if I could pay extra to come in an hour early and was told it would be a full days rate for the one hour. We drove around and finally parked at a grocery store (pulling a trailer) to eat up the time. When we came back & checked in I told them I had 2 little dogs. They were informed of this when I made the reservation & I don't remember anything being said of the rules. We always pick up after our dogs. We were told they could only go to the bathroom in the doggie run and not in our camping site. If they were seen going to the bathroom anyplace except the designated area we would be asked to leave immediately. This was after they took our money at $130.60 per day for ocean view, 2 dogs tax and everything. For 4 days we carried our dogs to the doggie run and let them walk back when we knew they wouldn't do anything on the driveway or next to our trailer. There were signs all around the office and grass no dogs allowed. The front camp sites with the beautiful view have a lot of vehicle noise from a 4 lane road. I would not stay here again under this management.
The park was very clean. There were privacy bushes between most sites. The higher sites have a limited ocean view. Not all sites have an ocean view as was stated over the phone. There is some traffic noise since it is close to highway 101. We were there over a holiday weekend so the price was higher. This is a very expensive park but was very nice and only a couple of years old. The people at the desk were very helpful. One good thing is that you can ask for a certain site and they will guarantee it. There is a lot of lighting at night so we felt very safe. The hookups were very convenient. I will stay here again.
This is not a resort. It was a big gravel area with nothing between the camping sights. The Russian River was similar to a canal. The steps going to the water were destroyed and you couldn't get to the water if you had to. There were about 30 to 40 very old trailers that were permanent. There might have been 6 or 7 of us that weren't permanent. The noise from the road was terrible. The fellow that checked us in was very nice. They had the ice and drinks we needed. We had a site next to the water with trees. We would not stay here again.
This park had several different areas. There were the regular RV sites in the gravel with little shade. There were RV sites in a meadow with lots of shade and then a lot of tent areas. There is a large area about 3 acres for football, soccer, badminton and anything you would want to play. The management was extremely helpful. We asked to purchase some salmon and they found a fisherman quickly that was willing to sell his fresh fish. They were wonderful to take the time and give us directions. The Saturday night BBQ was fun and we enjoyed the entertainment. We were going to use the laundry room but it had more broken washers than working ones. A fellow in a tear drop trailer said the bathrooms were dirty and upon request they cleaned them immediately. The electrical where we were parked needed repair. We tried to walk to the Klamath River from our camp site which we were told we could do; turned out to be too muddy to navigate.
The park was nice and clean. The spaces were large and had a lot of trees and bushes between the sites. Everything was great except the person at the front desk. We asked for things to do and she handed us a square dancing brochure. She was just indifferent. We then went into town to get the local attractions. We would stay there again.
We arrived around 7:30 in the evening. The kids filled the RV streets with their bikes. It was really hard backing in & trying not to hit one of them. The space we had was really tight. We couldn't get our outside mat completely laid out because it was so tight. On the other side of the resort there are larger spaces which I would request in the future. One night the sprinklers came on & got a lot of items wet. Notice of this would have been appreciated. This resort is like a town. It has a store, restaurant, laundry, bike rentals, and about everything you need. It is about 4 blocks from downtown Pismo and all the restaurants. It was an easy walk for us. The ocean is just over one of the dunes. You can walk all the way to the pier on the sand. They have horseshoes, shuffle board, and a big pool. It is fairly clean, however we did need to pick up cigarette buts at our sight. The security is very tight. They have a gate which everyone must go through and they are constantly going through the park checking the area. We would stay there again only with a bigger site.
The park was clean. The spaces are very tight and you are close to your neighbor. The staff was nice. The park is older. Our TV and water hook up was behind the trailer next to us. Our water barely reached but the TV cable didn't. I asked to borrow one from the RV park and they gave us a 15 foot and it didn't reach. We purchased a 45 foot cable the next day and it did reach. The answer is to be prepared for anything. They offer free ice and have a heated pool. The park had a lot of seniors and not many kids, but there were some. Another person reviewing this RV park stated they had a problem with a car being towed. There is a big sign when you enter stating that everyone, even visitors must check in at the office. There are no trees but we had fog and cool days while we were there. We enjoyed all the friendly TV people and would stay there again. They are about five blocks from many restaurants and shopping. There are lights and crosswalks to get across highway one to the shops and beach. We had no problem.
They were extremely nice. The great grandson "Smith" offered to park our trailer & we accepted. Out site was nice & shady as we requested overlooking the San Lorenzo river. There are some that get full sun & are close. Be exact as to what you want. There are several miles of hiking trails that are a quick access from the RV park. The area is just beautiful & they keep it clean. They just started taking credit cards. Many people were booking for next year. We are returning in September 2009 for another great stay.
We have stayed twice at this location. It has big spaces and is quiet. We got into a problem with a reservation over Memorial Day weekend. We drove within 10 miles of the RV park when we got into snow. I was afraid I would get stuck, so we turned around. We arrived home three hours later and I called and canceled. Since it was a holiday they kept one day fee and $10.00. They allowed us to reschedule the other two days during the week. We accepted and went a few weeks later. The park is clean and the people there were very friendly. We would definitely go back. The elevation is about 6800 feet. A lot of the sites don't have a lot of trees so be sure to have something for extra shade during the summer afternoons. There is no TV hookup or newspapers.
We liked this park. It was quiet and we had a full view of the creek with the ducks landing all of the time. The owners were friendly and ready to help when we had a sewer hook up problem. It is an older park and the sewer hook up is near the road and several inches higher than the dirt. I noticed several motor homes had to pull in & not back in so they could hook up to the sewer. We ended up purchasing a longer sewer hose to solve the problem. If you go be sure to walk to the end of the road to see the beautiful water falls that they show on line. The spaces are close. The park was only half full so this wasn't a problem. We plan to return in the fall when they have cool weather.
