It is OK as a campground but not even close to a resort. The river sites are for tents or very small campers. We have a 42' motorhome, we were given a site on the "Big Rig" hill, back-in 80'. Not even close to 80', maybe 60'. Awning hit the tree branches, only choice we had otherwise couldn't open the front slide. Sites are marked off by medium size boulders and small boulder type rock all around the site. My adult daughter tripped on a boulder and sprained her ankle. There is no dog walk. The big attraction is the ease of getting rafting arrangements, zip line and rock climb wall on the property. Outdoor restaurant, very expensive, onion rings $9.95, ice cream bar was $4 in the store. Wi-Fi on the hill worked OK but very slow. Hot Springs pool close by, short drive to Aspen. Price reflects $5 a day charge for each dog and one extra person. Since we stayed weekdays Monday-Wednesday, it is overpriced. It is a tourist town but if you get away from the main intersection there are some fast food restaurants. This is not an overnight stay place, if you enter the park after dark you will not be able to figure out how to get around. It is a good family place for the kids and teens if they don't fall on the boulders! Won't be back.
The park is advertised as Big Rig friendly, WiFi,Cable included. we have a 43'tag Motorhome. Before I registered I asked three questions. 1. Are there low hanging trees , answered no. 2. Do you have a pull thru site that is long enough for our rig, answered yes. 3. Does your cable and WiFi work? answer yes. Low hang in tree on assigned pull thru, could not navigate properly in to the site. We could only get in at an angle because of the tight turn required to try to get in the site. Site would be ok for a 36' Motorhome. Getting out of this site will be a challenge, a very tight curve on narrow road between two trees. WiFi works great, cable does not. We could not view sites from the office. There are lots of small sites without any trees. Worse park I have been to in 7 years of RVing
I stayed here on a monthly rate for 2 months April and May 2010, during the floods. I have to differ with other comments. The office was extremely friendly, the owners are delightful! Even the maintenance crew was friendly. The park is well groomed, the pool and restrooms were sparkling. During the floods, I was able to move to higher ground in the park, but I pulled out for a day managing to get around the road closures. I came back the next day when the city confirmed the dam would not be opened and make that location worse. The other two parks, closer to the river were destroyed by the flood. They are now back up and running! I would stay here again!
This is about a half acre of gravel parking lot with about 5 pull-through sites. The rest were back-ins but would not accommodate big rigs. My site was totally uneven: I could not get even close to level so I kept the slides in and in the morning moved to another site that had been occupied by a couple that uses this park 4 times year. They told me that site was the only one of the pull-throughs, that they can get level in. They called and reserved that spot #31. I also had no problem getting level in that spot. In order to get the $10 rate, you have to go to the casino to get a player card, which I did after I parked. The food in the casino was good. There's a travel plaza across the street with a dairy queen, and a Super Market and Ace Hardware are next door. There is good digital TV reception and my Verizon air card and phone worked great. I would stay again if I can get that level spot. The gentleman who runs the office offered to let me park across several of the back-in spots if I had anymore trouble getting level. A site for $10, with electricity and water is a great deal!
A good base to see the Grand Canyon. It's a basic campground with some long term campers. The cable TV didn't work and I didn't use the Wi-Fi. My reservation was for 2 nights. When I checked- in, I asked if I wanted to stay a 3rd night would they have room. I was told by the workamper this would be no problem. Since it was Labor Day weekend I was glad to hear that. The park was far from full. I called the office the afternoon of my 2nd day and talked to the owner, he said my spot had been reserved for 3 weeks and I could not stay. He did not offer me another space. Since I used Passport America, I have my opinion on why. The park was about 25% full. The big plus for my visit was a Private Grand Canyon Tour Guide Marvouls Marv advertised on the website. I took his tour with another couple and it was awesome. I have been to the Grand Canyon in the past but had not seen any of what he showed us. The tour was worth every bit of $85 for the entire day including pick-up. I would stay at this park again even though I was annoyed with the owner's business ethic.
