A nice park. We parked down below the hill and away from the highway. Quiet and not any highway noise. It's shady, friendly and close to the casino for entertainment. Long pull throughs so we didn't have to unhook our ATV trailer from the back of the 5th wheel. Clean areas at sites. Would recommend it to others. Had a nice area for the dogs.
This is a nice campground with shade. Most of the sites are on grassy area and if there is rain it can become muddy. Tthe river does cause problems to those camped near the river, but, local authorities will notify campers to move to higher ground. Some 50 amp. Some hookups on cement. Nice place for groups or families to get together. Busy in August for fair and in Sept. for the Bluegrass Festival that draws thousands to the area. Close to town and restaurants and local businesses. Dump station handy.
Park is a nice stop over for us en-route to our destination; however, we feel it is rather expensive. We made reservation online a month before arrival and that cost us $10.00. There was a camping fee of $24.00 plus a fee for our vehicle. No shade available but that is not expected for the area it is in. Nice view of the Twin Peaks. Friendly at the ranger office. Sites were clean at our pad.
We like this campground. It is like an Ozark area in Kansas. Sites are not close together and very shaded. Some sites are on the water and we can leave our boat on a portable dock in the cove. Camp hosts are friendly and patrol the area twice a day as do the Labette County Sheriff's dept. The area is clean and we enjoy the wildlife of deer that pass through the campground.
This is close to the highway and it is an easy stopover campground for us. There are sites long enough that we do not have to unhook the trailer with ATV behind 5th wheel. Not usually crowded and even though there is no shade, it cools off in the evenings. They were very accommodating with helping us to our site. Gave us ice cream bars on arrival. Even though close to highway, it is quiet. Not far from a truck stop to the east for fuel.
This is our 3rd year at this campground. It has more shade and bigger sites than others in the area. The campground hosts are "people friendly" and make everyone feel welcome. I read a previous comment about the campground that mentioned those of us that are seasonal and all our junk. We have signs with our names, solar lights, screen rooms, bird feeders, flowers, etc. that help to make the park appear homey and friendly. And, true there is a RV repairman with his sign out in the park, but, he is very busy and it is handy to have someone come to your RV to do repairs instead of driving to Colorado Springs, Pueblo or Denver. He is busy in all the area and has helped many of us RVers. We have recommended this campground to our friends and they are as pleased with their stay here as we are. We are here for the summer and will return next May. Great Place!
