What a dump -- muddy, unlevel, and tall weeds. The owner is a JERK and is either a liar or just ignorant. We see why this place gets such bad reviews. The only reason we considered staying there is that it would be close for a family visit. We pulled in and told the owner we wanted to stay two nights and needed to dump on the way in. He said that it would be $30 per night for water/electric 30amp plus $15 to dump. I told the owner that in over four years of fulltiming we have never been asked to pay a dump fee if we stayed at a campground. He said that it is normal to charge a fee in the area. I didn't believe him and when I checked nine other campgrounds in the area, none charge for dumping if you stay with them. I see why the place was empty and junky. The owner's strange business plan seems to be working for him, but not for his customers. This guy said it bought the campground a couple of years ago. Too bad he didn't have the previous owner teach him something about running a business.
Much to my regret I ignored the previous reviews for this campground. The electrical voltage was so bad that we kicked the breaker several times even though we just used one appliance at a time. Don't be fooled by the web site. The campground is chopped out of a hillside. The sites are not level and poorly planned. It was nearly impossible to work our way between all the trees to get to a site that had a 10 inch drop from one end to the other. Other sites I saw had low muddy areas. The clubhouse was junky and had mismatched worn furniture. I will not stay here again. Next time I will park on the exit ramp of a highway rather than stay here.
Very nice comfortable park. We were there just before they closed for the season so we nearly had the place to ourselves. Very quiet with good long pull-through sites, good Wi-Fi, and good water pressure. The only knock is the very weak electrical. Even with a nearly empty park the voltage was low.
We called twice during the week before our arrival checking on availability and amenities. Each time getting answers was like pulling teeth. When we arrived we didn't like the look or feel of the place. The owner or manager was unfriendly and indifferent. The sites are on a hill side, Some in the open and some in the trees. It looks like they just dumped a load of rock and called it a site. Most are really unlevel and the weeds were over growing the place. We decided to just do a drive through and go somewhere else. We cannot recommend anyone stay there.
Very nice park and convenient to Cape Cod, Mystic, New Bedford and Boston. Great electrical and water pressure. We kept extending our stay because it was so nice and relaxing there. Great fudge in the store at a very good price is an added bonus.
This campground was recommended by friends. It was a real disappointment. Except for a very few sites where they have added some rock, the sites are very unlevel. About half of the sites have a tree or two. It just happens that they placed the trees perfectly to block satellite signals. It is disgraceful that a place with such potential has been so poorly planned. I would stay there again if I could get one of the level, treeless sites.
Convenient to all the local attractions and Rapid City. Clean restrooms and showers. All pull through sites. They have three different length sites. It amazed me that the office ALWAYS put class A motorhomes and 5ers in sites that were too short. Nearly everyone had to park their vehicles in adjacent sites. All sites had traces of rock and lots of dirt. I saw many sites, ours included, that had standing water and mud on the door side. Everyone seemed to sink two to six inches as they drove into their site. One day they used a blade to smooth out the ruts in the empty sites. Of course they didn't add any rock. Because of all the dirt and lack of gravel it will be bad there when the place finally dries out and the wind starts blowing all the dirt around. Wi-Fi was adequate. Even with all the cons, I would still stay here again because it is so convenient to Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, and Rapid City.
Really old and small park. Nothing being spent on upkeep. Still a nice place for a over night stay out in the middle of nowhere. Only 3 miles north of I-10. Good Verizon 3G signal. Passport America rate.
Let me be clear about this, the only reason to stay at this campground is its proximity to Washington, DC and the Manassas Battlefield. The pull through sites are not level and difficult to maneuver. The wooded sites are just spots that have been numbered among the trees. None are level, all are tight and brushy. The basketball goal and pole have fallen down. The pool was not open. The owners just want the income but don't seem to be interested in maintaining the facility. They did finally mow the grass in the sites when it got knee high. If we stay here again it will just be for the ease of making day trips to DC. Location still doesn't justify the high price.
Small campground with a good location. It's close to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. Has good water, electrical, and WiFi. That is not enough to bring me back. The campground is located between a busy highway and railroad, only yards from each. I was in a site near the highway and away from the railroad, and my motorhome still vibrated as the trains went by. No sites seem to be level, but the ones by the highway are very bad. Bathhouses are old, but clean. There are better choices in the area. Even though April begins their peak season, this campground was mostly empty. With all things considered, it's way over-priced.
Nice spot for a day trip to Skagway if you don't to take the rig down there. Sites fairly level with FHU. The 30amp electrical was very good. Wi-Fi is included and worked very well and was fast. Very laid back; we paid and they told us to just pick any site we wanted. FHU is $30, we chose electric only for $16.
Friendly and helpful staff. Nice shaded sites with good 50 amp service and reliable WiFi. Clean and modern laundry. Great stop between Anchorage and Denali. We stayed an extra night because we liked it so much. As an added bonus it is convenient to the quaint little town of Talkeetna.
Nice forest setting with lots of wildlife. Wagon wheel format for pull-through sites can be a little tight to get out of. The one central shower house is near the tent area which is a long way from the RV sites.
We like desert campgrounds and this is one. What we don't like is highway noise, train noise, and the smell. There must be cattle lots all around. Kept waking up because of the smell. They advertise free WiFi and it is worth exactly what you pay for it. Was able to connect, but kept dropping out and was unusable. NEVER AGAIN
A very nice park in a rural setting. Great clubhouse with a fireplace, kitchen, pool table, lounging area, and three TVs. Individual shower/restrooms are super clean and well maintained. The manager is always available and keeps the whole place in order. They continue to add sites with perfectly level concrete pads. Fishing pond with not license required. Park is 1.2 miles off TX155 on wide and RV friendly oil road. Plenty of signage to direct the way. We will definitely stay here again.
Absolutely great! Has the It-factor! Great well spaced sites. Wi-Fi has been added and most of the restrooms/showers have been rebuilt. They are well planned and kept clean. Started with a one day stay and extended two more days. Will definitely stay here again.
This is another great little New Mexico State Park. This is our third one this month. We stayed in the Cactus Patch loop with water and electric. The concrete pad was perfectly level. Good electricity with very clean showers. There are several well maintained trails. There are hosts for each of the loops. It is convenient to Los Cruces and Hatch. We will return when in the area. Very nice, quiet campground. Good 30 amp, electric, and water pressure. New restrooms and showers. Well laid out and spacious. They were kept fairly clean, but not spotless. Plenty of room for our 40' and toad. We will stay there again when in the area, but not in summer.
Very nice campground. Easy access from I-70. Restrooms and showers supper clean. Camp host friendly and very helpful. Had fast Wi-Fi in the 50amp spot. Originally planned to move to another campground in a few days, but extended to two weeks. Will stay here when in the area again.
What a great little RV park. Staff super friendly and helpful. Placed us in a very nice spot even though we used Passport America. Showers were great. Will plan to spend more time there the next time we go through.
A great campground. Plenty of room, good roads, good Wi-Fi, friendly hosts, and great area. Both shaded and satellite friendly sites. The only reason for not giving a 10 is that some sites are not perfectly level.
Nice overnight stay. Restrooms and showers clean and very nice. Long site, no need to unhook the toad. Car wash across the street has a RV lane with platforms and left and right spray hoses. Can't believe that don't have WiFi.
New and still a little rough around the edges. Rec area under construction. One shower, one washer and dryer, one men's restroom, and one women's restroom. WiFi generally only works in or near the office. We were 50 feet from office and couldn't get a signal. Next to highway, but the noise was not a problem for us.
Clean and well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. WiFi weak on the edges of the campground. Private fishing pond. Next to I-80, noise could be problem for some but was not for us. Somewhat narrow sites, but enough room for slides.
They have full hookup sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp sites. Some pull-through sites. The campground host was very helpful. We parked on one of the grass sites and it came a five inch rain over night. Host brought in a load of gravel to help us get out. Mostly level gravel sites with grass between them. Good trees. Quite town. Really Pottawattamie County Fairground.
