This isn't a bad park by any means. It serves great as a stop over on your way to another destination. The comfort stations were clean, although, on our visit, the laundry machines were not working and our clothes simply would not dry. We were forced to set our clothes in the sun to get them dry. And: THERE'S PLENTY OF SUN!! I don't think there was a single site that had adequate shade. We camped in August, and it was so hot we could barely stand it. There is a wave pool on the grounds, and the kids enjoyed it for a few hours, I believe the entry fee was $7 a person for the wave pool. There is also a swimming pool near the camping loops for overnight guests, but it was not very impressive, even in the Louisiana August heat. We saw a large abundance of wildlife though, which surprised me with it being located right off of a main highway in a fairly busy neighborhood. Rabbits, deer, armadillos, snakes, and alligators, as well as a large variety of birds.

What a great campground! Lake-front sites are very big and open. Grounds and comfort stations are incredibly well kept. And, although it was a little too cold to really enjoy the beach: its only a short bicycle ride away. The price is very affordable and the location can't be beat. Central to great shopping and dining, fishing excursions, and all of the best that the Gulf Coast has to offer. This is the type of campground that a family can visit as a reason within itself for a vacation. They were doing some construction while we were there, and I spoke with one of the workers who informed me that the pool should be open this summer.

This is the ultimate campground, the one that all other campgrounds should use as a guide. Countless activities for all ages, from horseback riding, nightly campfire with Disney movies on "drive in" size outdoor screen, carriage rides, hayrides, beach, great bass fishing, tennis courts, archery, waterslide. As I said, COUNTLESS. Add the magic of Disney and it becomes a vacation destination without even visiting the amusement parks. The comfort stations are spotless, the staff is unrealistically friendly. We will camp here on every occasion that presents itself. It's a little more expensive than many campgrounds, but well worth the extra costs when you consider the entertainment available.

We used to stay in the cabins at this park at least once a year. I think this is THE park that got me hooked on camping enough to make me buy a used pop-up and go more often. We only live about 4 hours from this beautiful state park, and it's one of the best I've ever camped at. Lush forestry, quiet, way out in the boonies kind of stuff here! I've never NOT seen an alligator at this park. The comfort station is top notch! The Wi-Fi is strong. The sites are paved, shaded and pretty darn level. The water park is great for cooling off. Cell phone service is sketchy: but that's because you're so far away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Fishing is always good: even from the banks, but canoe rental makes it even better. The hiking trails are beautiful, but, SERIOUSLY, bring LOTS OF REPELLENT!!! This is SWAMP COUNTRY in every aspect of the term! The mosquitoes will beat and rob you at gun point!! You will not find a friendlier staff. Its a good 12 mile drive to any type of grocery store: so STOCK UP ahead of time. All of the waterfront sites have piers and are excellent for early morning fishing, gator watching, and evening bat watching. I LOVE this campground, it is easily in my favorite top 3 in the country!
