This is probably the nicest overnight park we've ever been to. Check in was quick and easy, and the store was the most well stocked I've ever seen at an RV park. The U Pick organic garden is awesome. The sites are level and for a road-side park, decent sized. There was plenty of space to walk our dog, which was also nice. Compared to most places we've stayed, High Plains has the best amenities and was a very nice place to stay. I'd definitely stay again, should we ever find ourselves in the area.
All in all, this is a nice place to set up home base if you're planning on spending some time in the area. It is very clean, has lots of great amenities (barbeques, ice cream social, internet in the office, etc). The people were all very nice and check in was a breeze. I have three beefs: Our site was far from level (very far), the sites were quite small and cramped (some of the fifth wheels didn't fit and hung out in the road) and the cable TV did not work. For the price, those things are issues with us. Save the few bucks and skip the premium site. It wasn't that premium.
The sites are all gravel, very close together and not entirely level. The fellow that checked us in was pretty short with me, but didn't quite cross the line to flat out rude. Fortunately, we were tired and just needed an overnight place to camp. There is a nice fenced in leash off dog area that our pooch enjoyed. If we're back in the area sometime in the future, we'll probably try another campground.
Park is on Lake Sam Rayburn. It has boat ramps for the fishermen and separate swimming areas for the kiddies. Overall, the park was very clean and the people very nice. All sites are shady. It was quiet and a great place to unwind for a few days.
