This campground was very nice and shaded. We stayed in site J-2, which was in the back and totally blocked from the site next to us by a huge shrub. We had a dog with us, and there was plenty of room for her to stay at the back of our camper without being on anyone else's site. It was also good to take her straight through the woods to run off her leash. Biking is awesome on the island, and the access to trails from the campground is great. We really enjoyed exploring and didn't spend too much time at the campground. There is so much to see, so we used it for home base and that was it. The only negative I have is that there was a lot of dirt/sand all around, and it would be a huge mess if it rained at all. Definitely a beautiful place, and we had a great week there!
We love camping here because it is close to Huntsville, and it is on the lake. There is a nice camp store, a good swim beach, and this is a great part of the lake for boating. The people who run the campground are so nice and helpful and really work hard to make sure everyone has a good experience. They ride around constantly, checking to make sure all is well. The only negative is that a lot of the sites are short and uneven. Make sure you bring plenty of blocks, etc. to build up for your jacks. You will need it!
