By far our favorite park in the entire United States. These two make wonderful hosts. They are very accommodating: one of our cats got sick and they helped us find a vet, and extended our stay without problem. Views are to die for. The entire campground is spotlessly clean. Nice hiking trails. The road up can be a little dicey, like someone said before, beware of that last turn or you could end up in someone's front yard! Still, well worth the extra money for the location. Will be back as often as we can, maybe twice a year. Can't wait to return!!
Just so-so. We stayed one night and the site was ok, around a big grassy center. Lots of seasonals with decks. The site was too short to stay hooked up and it was hard to park sideways in front of our rig. Clean and lots of trees.
This is the best kept secret in the whole state of New York. They don't advertise anywhere, so it was a great surprise to find something so close to the City and the Metro North is just at the entrance to the park. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Would be a 10 if they had 50 amp. We don't care that there isn't WiFi or Cable, we bring our own sattelite and internet connection. Wonderful walking trails. We want to come back in the spring for two months!!
Just stayed one night, but we really enjoyed it. Lovely park, nice long pull through with 50 amp. Great place to walk around. The airport traffic overhead can be noisy during the day, but stops at night. Will return for a longer stay.
Kind of pricey for what you get. Trains are noisy, but the park itself is beautiful. A bit far from St. Louis, but worth the drive to walk around Forest Park. Would recommend for a short stay, or if you are going to Six Flags, which is practically around the corner.
OK place to stay. Owner was terrific, but roads are tight and hard to get into site. He has tow cars and trucks parked in front of the spaces, so turning to get into a space is almost impossible. Train can be noisy, but they seem to stop at night, so sleeping was not a problem. Close to the VA Hospital, if that is a concern. Cute little patio with a tree and privacy screen is a nice touch. Really, it is just a place to lay your head if you are sight seeing, otherwise, stay at the one on top of the mountain.
Absolutely lovely park. We were at the "upper" campground where we were under a canopy of trees. Our site also was at an angle where you couldn't really see anyone next to you - very nice! Would recommend.
Very clean place, nice folks who run it. Good location by the highway, but a little pricy for what you get. Long enough space so we didn't have to unhook. Very few 50 amp sites, so call ahead to make sure you get one if you need it. Some long term folks, but they are in a different part of the park. Very windy! Good for an overnight, but not much more.
Have stayed here before, but this time was just over night, so they put us in a nice long space so we didn't have to unhook. We were near the long term (monthly) folks that ring the outside of the main part of the park, but the sites were nice and clean. The office staff is very nice and gives lots of information. The Utah State Fair had just opened that day right down the block and we could hear the announcers, but all was quiet by 10:00 pm. Not a great neighborhood overall, but close to the downtown area if you want to see the sights. Will stay here again.
Great location right off the highway, but not noisy. Each site has a tree and grassy area. Spaces were long enough so we didn't have to unhook. Paved roads and pads. Much better than another park we stayed at before. We will be back here again for sure.
Stayed here over Labor Day Weekend, and was not disappointed at all. Our space was only a little cramped, but we stayed until Wednesday, so by the end of Monday, we were practically all alone. Nice office staff, great places to walk. Definitely a family place with lots of dogs. Everyone observed quiet time. We will stay here again for sure, especially since they are open all year.
Close to family and friends, so worked out well for us. They put us in a too tight back-in space and couldn't get our slides out at first, but then moved us to a pull-through at no extra charge. Even then, the space was in a huge parking lot and were too close to others to put out our awning very far. The utility pole was too far away from where our electric connects, resulting in a bent plug. Watch out for other steel posts because they are short and easy to miss when putting out slides. Lots of kids on small vehicles can be a hazard when driving, so must drive very slowly. Excellent central location.
Location, location, location. We visit family in New York City, and this is the closest park, not counting the one in Jersey City, NJ, where you can only stay two weeks. We have stayed here twice for two months at a time. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Sites are only adequate, they need more help with the mowing and weed removal. Very quiet and on a hill with good views in the winter and early spring. Water pressure is an issue as well, so keep your water tank full in case you need to supplement. We will be back again.
We stayed here two months visiting family. The location is wonderful, if not downright cold and windy. As all the others have stated, the lots are extremely close together, no room for awnings, but then most of the time you won't need them or it is too windy anyway. The staff were wonderful - always happy to answer questions and give advice. We had our mail forwarded there and also had packages delivered with no problems. If you have Seasonal Affective Disorder, you will need to get out daily to some sunshine. We saw maybe two sunsets the whole month of July, a few more in August. There is a great walking trail by Linda Mar section of town with great views. The monthly rate was also a good deal.
