Just stayed 3 nights in a travel trailer at Woods Valley Kampground. We thought we had come to the wrong place at first, but it turned out to be a pretty good little camping spot! We rented spot #P5 which is a full hook-up site and is close to the swimming pool (not intentional, but we had no choice). When we arrived on the Thursday. It seemed like the park was empty except for the permanent residents who take up ALL of roadrunner flats, quail heights, and the area we were in - P. Actually, I think we were the ONLY full hook up spot that was not occupied by a full time resident. Thursday night was super quiet which was a great getaway from the traffic noise in orange county! The manager was great! Very helpful and friendly. Also, that they were trying to "tidy up" the park. Friday morning was blissful and so relaxing but by Friday afternoon an influx of families and children arrived, mostly in tents and travel campers, killing the quietness of the campground. Campers who were behind us in "boomerang" were up Saturday morning at 5:45am letting the kids run free! I'm all for a good time, but 5:45am really? I did venture into the restrooms to wash my hands after packing up, and I'm very glad to report that I have my own bathroom in my trailer to use! A little on the dirty side, but it was Sunday so that may have been why? If you are looking for a little piece and quiet in a relaxing setting, I suggest camping here during the weekdays, which we intend to do next time. And, If you have children, join in the madness on the weekends. It's kid heaven and they will love it.
Stayed in a premium large site (2323) and friends stayed in 2325. Overall we had a great time but found that the spots were quite small and on top of one another, just like a parking garage! We were also right across from the bathrooms, which were very popular in the early hours of the morning and late at night (never again!). Another negative, a family with 8 screaming kids having a birthday party moved in right next to us and were up at 6am (quiet hours are suppose to be until 8am - that wasn't happening). There were so many empty spots, I wonder why we were crammed in? Positives: We rented a group bike for an hour and cruised around the park which was fun, the pool was looked great for kids, the bike trail is right there with easy access and they had cheap burgers on Friday night at Moe's! Would we stay again, yes but in a different site and during off season as I hear during the summer it's a mad house!
We checked in on a Thursday, and out on a Sunday for the Solvang Prelude bike event. A lot of bikers checked in on the Friday, but the park was not full. Check in was great, the ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful. We had an escort to our site because of a tree that could have possibly caused damage! We decided to get a super premium end site and it was fantastic: worth the extra $ for the extra space and privacy. We liked that the park did not put us all close together like some do. Friday night we had the BBQ tri-tip that was on site, and on Sunday had the breakfast: convenient and perfect! The park was very well maintained, clean (went to the bathrooms on the way out and they were great) and the staff was very friendly. We look forward to going back!
