This is a beautiful State park and well maintained. I stayed in site 5, a back-in. Site was very level and shaded. Sites 1-15 seem to be all level and 4-5 are pull throughs. This is a very quiet park which is what I wanted. Not much going on when I was there. Stayed a week and visited several nearby locations. No real grocery store, and only one place to eat out in White Springs, but Lake City is only about 12 miles away. Roads into park and in campground were paved and wide and easy to get around. No cable or over air TV. Peace and quiet abounds. We will be back. Only reason for no 10 rating is lack of sewer and cable.
We have stayed here many times. We always have a good time. Park is well run and staff very friendly and helpful. CG is heavily wooded and roads are dirt/crushed asphalt. It does get dusty. And yes there are plenty of skeeters, but this is South Georgia so we just deal with them. We enjoy the bike trails on island and beaches. Bathhouses were kept clean as possible, but there was a full house on the weekend. Overall I give the CG a 9. We will stay here many more times in the future. This is a laid-back island, not like most that are built up beach towns. There are groceries, gas, adult beverages available if needed. Be prepared for the bugs, they are part of life down here so don't let them deter you or keep you from enjoying this CG. Besides, with cooler weather there will be fewer of them to bother you. Also, there are some good places to eat on the island and the surrounding areas. Be prepared to pay "fee" to get you RV on the island. For our motorhome it was $10. And there is a 5 dollar a day fee for your tow vehicle so if staying a week, get the weekly pass it is a little cheaper
I have stayed here many times over the years. While there is not much to do other than fish, or enjoy the natural beauty of the park, I always enjoy my stay. It is a quiet park and a long way to any groceries or supplies so be sure to have what you need. I come here to fish, hike and rent a boat to explore the swamp. If you like peace and solitude, this is for you. I hope to return to the swamp many more times.
This was the King George RV Park but has been bought by a young couple that are making a lot of improvement. This is a good campground to overnight as the on and off Interstate 95 is very easy. It is also good for a few days to explore the surrounding area as well. Sites are pull-through and plenty large for most units. The new owners are working hard to make this a great little campground and are very friendly and helpful. While there if on Friday or Saturday nights, you should go up to Woodbine to the Woodbine Opera if you like country music. On Saturday night they let folks dance. No alcohol, just a good clean family fun place if you like that type music. I believe the new owners of this park, if the continue as they are now, will turn this campground into a top-notch place. I will stop here again. Rate reflects CampClub discount.
We have camped here many times. This time the staff was highly visible cleaning and doing daily chores. Check fast and efficient and all staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. All sites shaded so satellite does not work well. Wi-Fi was good but kind of slow. All sites are dirt as are the interior roads but in pretty good shape. Some sites need some fill dirt as the have been "wallowed out" by years of campers coming and going and in heavy rain water stands on them. All in all a very good campground. Good store for supplies and island has great bike trails, bird watching, fishing, beaches etc.. A lot of construction going on on island at this time as they are building a new convention center and shopping area. Several stores in temporary building located near campground. We got a nice surprise with a free night camping since we were staying more than six nights. Price of $28.00 reflects this. We plan to return this fall after weather cools a bit. If you are not from the South and not used to biting insects, be prepared with lots of repellant. In the South we have bugs but they can be controlled with good repellants so come on and enjoy a visit at a great park.
This is a great park. It is typical of most state parks in that it only has water and electric hookups. Site we had was large and somewhat private from adjoining sites. Camp employees were very gracious and helpful. We plan on using this park again.
This park is in a pretty location on the Suwanee River. The owners/staff were friendly and helpfully. Check-in was easy as we had reservations. The road leading to the park changes from paved to dirt about 4-5 hundred yards from park entrance but the road was hard packed dirt and in good condition. The interior roads of park are dirt but were fairly good. The road leading to office was paved, but very narrow and the pavement dropped off. The circle drive at office is tight but doable. We have a tall rig but had no problems getting to site, no low limbs etc. The site we had was ample size but very un-level. It took a lot of effort to get "pretty level" so things worked properly. Only 30 amps at this site and there was no breaker on electric box so we had to hook up to a "live" box. Sewer was slightly uphill and some drainage problems but we worked around that. We were about 100 yards from river and it was easy walk . We enjoyed sitting and watching the river and seeing the sturgeon jump. Bath house was very rundown but they tried to keep them clean. I am not too picky about these things since we mostly use our own. When we arrived, there were only 4 long term campers in park but on weekend there were several tent campers and a few others. This is an old park and is badly in need of up-grading. Owners have some good plans and hopefully they will make needed improvements. If you want a quiet place this is it. If you are looking for a lot of activities, go somewhere else. There are canoes and kayaks rented here. We opted to stay here because we had business in the area and it was convenient for us. We will not stay here again unless improvements are made. There is no TV or Wi-Fi except in office. They have a food service on weekend and it was good and reasonable. This park has much potential and if improvements are made, it will be a good park.
Have stayed here a few times and enjoyed it. Park is heavily shaded. Interior roads are dirt and get really dusty but they spray water on them to help keep it down. Sites are both pull-thru and back-ins and most are very easy to get in and out. Sites used by me have had full hookups. This is an older park but overall good condition. Jekyll Island is a great place with plenty of bike paths and fishing. A daily fee is charged to get on the island so be aware of this if you are planning on trips off the island.
Park is nice as is bath houses and other amenities. Interior roads are horrible and very narrow and hard to navigate. Sites was good but hard to get into and I would have hated to have tried during darkness. A little brush and tree trimming would be good. Many sites no where near level but ours fortunately was. We just did a overnight here.
We have been here several times and enjoy this park. Sites are large; mostly pull throughs were what I saw. All sites had full hook ups. Interior roads need work ,but that was about it. Rest of campground was good. Fishing nearby with good fishing pier. Brunswick is near as is Jeykel Island. Shopping areas are near as well. Good place for biking and walking. We will be back.
We have stayed here several times and always enjoy the park. It is quiet and well maintained. Park staff very friendly and helpful as was the campground hosts. We normally stay here at a time when the sand gnats are kind of bad, but we know they are there and are prepared. Sites are large and clean and well shaded. Fishing is available as is nature trails and Savannah is nearby. Come enjoy this State park.
We spend Christmas and New Year's here each year for last several years. We camp on the beach side. Sites kind of small and tight but that is expected for beach side camping. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Campground is clean and well kept. We hope to continue to visit this campground for years to come.
