The sites were a little tight to get in and out of because of the narrow roads. Overall it's a great place to stay. We felt the golf carts were not as bad as people say; we had no problems walking or bike riding. We were here during spring break. The beach is very nice. The indoor pool was crowded (it was cool outside - in the low 60's). The outdoor pool water was cold. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed our stay. The Easter morning church service was nice (probably 700 plus people attended). We rented a car and the rental shuttle passed through 2 of the other popular campgrounds and I felt Ocean Lakes was the better of the 3 commercial campgrounds. Also visited the state park and saw it was very dusty to camp there. Overall I would recommend this park versus any other one we saw in the area.
We stayed here on our stopover from Michigan to Myrtle Beach. All the sites are pull-thru. Very nice people run the campground. There is a big hill / pasture that blocks the noise from the interstate. The pastures around the campground are very nice with the cows mooing (no smell from the farms). Nice dog run areas around the campground. Pappy's Pizza across the street has the best pizza we've had in years. There is a Flying J at this exit also which is very helpful.
Very nice campground! We will stay here again if we pass through the area. The 4 mile drive from I-77 was not good in the dark but driving out in the day was fine. They are typical West Virginia 2 lane paved back roads. When a car came toward us we just moved over and let them pass. We drove the middle of the road to and from the campground. The campground was very nice and quiet. In our group we had a 5th wheel and a Class C plus our Class A and all of us enjoyed the campground and facilities and had no problems. I would highly recommend this campground.
Just got back last night. We were in the upper campground. They have 12 sites with 50 amp service, water and sewer in this area. The sites in that part are all level with a very large cement pad. There was no leveling needed when we pulled in. All the sites in that area are huge (at least 70x70). All sites in the campground have cable tv which is very nice. There are only 2 showers for the campground in each of the men's and women's rest rooms. None of us had a problem when we wanted to take a shower though. There is wood available for purchase at the office (it's unlocked 24 hours a day if needed). I was able to pull my boat in the campground and around the corners (watching closely). We are about 56 feet long with the boat on the back. We had to have the CG launch the boat. The ramp is very steep and tight. The lake is low, I was told there is a problem with the dam and it shows (about 18 inches lower than normal). There is a horse shoe pit and some other games set up in the middle if you'd like to do that. A basketball court and playground for the kids also. The campground is very nice and quiet at night also. There were no rowdy people keeping others awake all night. There are owners managers living on site and they do drive around checking on things through out the evening and night. Also, we had a couple of people in our group leave a day early and the managers/owners came around and asked if everything was ok. The ones that left early in our group wanted to stay for the day so they paid for the extra night to play all day. Anything you need the managers/owners are very helpful and courteous. It was a great place to stay.
Very close to town. There is a bike trail to town which takes 10 minutes to ride. The shuttle comes to your camp site and takes you to the ferry docks to go to the island. The pool is a bit small. The roads are good gravel but can get dusty at times. The sites are large and can accommodate large rigs. We've stayed here twice in the past year and we'll stay here again. Campfire wood is available 24 hours a day. Very friendly staff. Very clean restrooms. All the showers could use a better spray head. Overall this is a great campground near enough to everything and yet secluded enough not to hear any noise from the interstate.
Nice place to stop in and visit the Dells. Great location right near the army ducks, jet boat rides, Noah's Ark (the best), Mt. Olympus and much much more. We rode our bikes into downtown easier than driving a car. The campground was clean but a little tight on space. Some tight spaces to get in and out of with anything larger than 30 foot but some sites can accommodate a 40 footer. The management is very friendly. The dumpster was overfilled by the 4th of July and really stunk if you were near it. They bring wood around for a nightly fire $5 for 1 bundle $7 for 2 bundles. The showers cost 25 cents and while it's not a huge expense it is a pain to remember when you head to the shower, but on the good side there was always one available.
There is the channel campground and the Lake Michigan campground. We've stayed at the Lake Michigan campground once and it was a bit hilly on some sites. Our favorite part is the Channel campground. You can watch the big ships come in from Lake Michigan to Muskegon Lake. You can swim in Muskegon Lake or Lake Michigan. The beaches are very nice. Lots of sand dunes and such to play in. This is one of our favorites.
We've stayed here at least every other year for the past 15 years in tents and now our motorhome. Great campground. Many bike trails / hiking trils across the road. The lake is fantastic but can be crowded on the beach on the weekends. There is a marina just down the road to rent pontoons also. Water is very clear and for some a bit on the cool side.
Great place to stay in the Charleston area. Closest to the historic district. One way cab ride is $13. 00 to the historic district. Lots to do in the park also. Bike trails, crab/fishing pier, water park (not open for our visit), climbing wall. Great family park. We stayed on sites 10 and 11 with family. We could have our doors open to each other so we had plenty of room in our little compound. This is a top notch place to stay! Very friendly and helpful staff.
Good overnight stop. Close to I-75, but no noise from the interstate. Nice places to eat within walking distance. They show you to your site and help with hookups. Very friendly staff. A lot of permanent residents. They charge you $20 if they catch you not cleaning up after your dog. Makes for a clean walk in the grass by the pond. Sites are close together. We could not put our awning out (no need to for one night only). As I said a good one nighter stop on the way north or south.
Went in and the manager met us in the office. We asked about a site for the night (I had called the day before and told no problem, no reservations needed). He finally came up with a site after much deliberation (in his mind). He asked if we wanted to stay 2 nights but we didn't, this was our stop over for the night only. The bathroom shower's were not the best in the men's room. One was out of order and the other shot water to the ceiling. Nothing much going on in the campground, very quiet, out of the way. Good for an over night stop. Heard it is nice for the concert's during the season.
This is a fun campground to hang out at. There is a 9 hole golf course, horse back riding, hay rides, tubing on the river. It has a lot to offer in this arena. The down side is low branches when driving to your site. The bathrooms are old and dated (but clean). The bathroom stalls have half doors so you can see over them while sitting there (or people can see you). The pool is small and needs a bit of repair.
We paid $204.00 for two nights. This was for a pull through site, full hook ups, also included 4 tickets for Friday night and 2 tickets for Saturday. It was great to be in the shadow of the coasters. The price seems a bit steep until you look at the tickets to the park you get also. If you go here get one of the package deals from them on the web site. The only drawback was the bathrooms were a bit on the messy side. They could have been a bit cleaner to get a "10" from me.
We stayed here for 10 days. On the second site the cable did not work very well, but good enough. We were there to boat. It's a great location in the hills. The lake is huge. We could beach our boat near our site. The marina had fuel. Nice little place to eat, but a bit expensive. It is a dry county for those that care.
