It is not a destination park but is a great place to stay if you need to be in the Charlotte/Fort Mill area. Rate reflects Good Sam Discount. There are a lot of permanent park campers in here, most are in good condition. There is a lot of improvements/construction going on right now. New office has been constructed. Not good for children as there is no pool or playground. There is a nice dog park area with a bag station for waste. Sites are asphalt paved with a gravel patio area with picnic tables provided. Some sites have a long sewer run so be prepared with an extension. Electric service consistent throughout the day with no interruptions and water quality is very good. Satellite access is perfect as well as Verizon LTE. Be warned of Google GPS as they call the address "Grace Drive". Google has been notified of new address. There is a long winding access through a subdivision area to get to this campground from I-77/Regent Parkway. Despite a previous review there are no problems whatsoever of driving a big rig in this campground. Our site was a back-in and we had no issues at all. We will definitely stay here again.

The only reason I can give this a 2 rating is because the pool and the area surrounding it is one of the best that I have seen for a KOA. The store and the area surrounding is old and out of date. The putt putt area has seen better days. Check in was satisfactory. We stayed in this campground a couple of years ago and was dismayed to see that nothing has been done to the campsites. We were assigned the very same one as before and leveling was very difficult. It was a pull through site and to get anywhere near level you have to place the RV at the edge of the parking pad. There are lots of tall trees so satellite access can be difficult. The interior roads are full of potholes and have deep long tracks made in them by rain runoff. OK for a one night stay but certainly not a destination for us.

The nightly rate for a KOA member is way too high! We were only here for one night, thank goodness, but the site fee for this campground was way more than the nightly fee we paid for 4 different campgrounds for an entire week. The sites were all muddy. The entire campground is nothing but dirt. The roads inside are uneven and muddy. Lots of trees so if you are here in the summer, satellite access will be impossible. Lots of tree roots above ground which make walking after dark dangerous. Pull through sites are marginal for a 40 footer towing. We will not be back.

This is a beautiful, peaceful resort. We enjoyed our stay here and would love to go back with one exception. The internet access, in contrast with the previous review, leaves a lot to be desired. Unless you are very close to their WiFi antenna or at the office, it is nonexistent in the campground. Even our Verizon wireless card had minimal access in this area of South Carolina. A good internet connection is one of the deciding factors for us in choosing a campground. The grounds are very well kept. The sites are long and paved with concrete patio's. There are some sites with hot tubs. Each site has it's own fire ring and charcoal grill. The pool is large and there is a small beach with swimming in the lake. Store has limited items. Walking in the park is fantastic for exercising. A great place if only their internet was better.

Price reflected is for a "deluxe" site which was a joke. Deluxe site consist of 2 broken concrete "strips" about 24 inches wide and about 40 feet long. Had difficulty placing dual rear tires on strips so that the leveling jacks would deploy in a safe spot. Interior roads are in a sad state of disrepair. Campsites narrow and picnic tables are ugly. Sites are not very level. Office staff very friendly. Propane and diesel fuel available on grounds. This could be a good campground if issues were addressed. Use caution when exiting I-77 south onto road as the lane is narrow and there are dividers in turning lane. Motorhome tires scraped curbing. Felt safe and access to Charlotte and shopping is convenient. Unfortunately, there are not many campgrounds in this area. Would stay here again but only because of that fact. Did not use restrooms.

I give this resort a 10 because of everything that they are doing right, despite the number of seasonal sites. It is in a beautiful location on the lake and just about every site has a view of the water if not waterfront. The pool area, though closed at the time of our visit, is on the waterfront and is gorgeous. Check in was painless and it is a gated facility with card access. Satellite access was not a problem and the wifi was extremely fast and reliable. The sites are all paved pads with nice picnic tables. Great walking trails are all around. We will be back.

I simply cannot give this campground a higher rating. This was our first time here and while the staff was friendly and the Sound Side site we had was great, that is about all of the good things I can say about it. The water was terrible as mentioned before in other reviews. But what was not said was that if your RV has a water filter, then you better check it. Ours was full of sand when we returned home. We had to buy ice and use bottled water for drinking, cooking and coffee. We found out on our last night there that the building on the sound side has a faucet outside that has city water connections. The campsites need a lot of updating. The rates are too high also. Our first site, Site 323, had a large manhole right in the center of the patio which made it unusable. The office was very accommodating in letting us move to a different site. We had a great vacation and loved the sunsets but we will not go back.

I would like to clarify that this is not a campground but a camping area behind the RV Dealer. We stayed here for a month while renovations were being done to our home. It was convenient and fairly quiet. Sites are somewhat level and all sites have 30 amp only. There is a fair amount of mud around if it is rainy, and dusty if dry. But it was convenient for us and met our needs. Office staff was very accommodating.

The State Fairgrounds has recently opened a whole brand new camping area. It is on a hill behind the Horse Complex. This area is all 50 amp, full hookups with posts that light up at night all around the area. All sites are back in. It is a work in progress as they are planning on adding more sites. It is secure and patrolled 24-7. Sites are fairly level with gravel pads. New grass has been sown in between the campsites. We stayed here while some renovations were being done on our home and cannot say enough good things about it! The area is private and there is plenty of room to walk pets. Security promotes advertising of this area and would like to see more use of it.
