Lagoons is, in my opinion, by far the nicest RV RESORT in Rockport/Port Aransas area. It is a resort because, among other things, they have an activity director in the winter and a lot of things to be involved in. Everywhere you drive on concrete and they keep it looking sharp. The owners live close by and they are there quite often. They take a lot of pride in the place because they (and their children) built it themselves and have poured a lot of blood sweat and tears into it. It is more expensive than the others in that area, but you get what you pay for. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is because they charge extra for cable TV and the Wi-Fi, which only works well very early in the morning when not many are on it.

Reading the reviews on this RV Park it is obvious that people either love it or hate it. The park itself is not bad, but the owners attitude just kills any thought of returning. It is listed as a Passport America park. We were there with a group of 4 rigs and two of the rigs he charged the PA rate and two he charged full price. He has the poorest attitude of anyone I think I have ever dealt with. If we had any option we would have left on the spot. The park is isolated from Ruidoso, but that is OK; it is in a pretty area but we won't be back just because of the surly attitude of the owner. It's also very steep gravel drive getting in and out of the park. One camper with a bumper pull trailer (who had too much tension on his equalizer bars) had to take a couple of hard runs at it to get out of the place because he wasn't set up right and it is very steep.

Indian River is a very nice blend of "back in the woods" camping and an "REV" Park. We loved the very tall trees that protected the grounds from wind. The road through the campground is asphalt, but the sites are gravel and some of them are not very level, but really not that bad. They have free short range wireless internet and you must be on the picnic tables behind the office to be in range. It is a mom and pop operation and they are very friendly and helpful. They take a lot of pride in keeping the place clean, looking very nice, and they are constantly making improvements. The late afternoon hayride for the kids is also a very nice touch. I would recommend highly this campground.

This park is a seasonal place with a lot of semi-permanent guests. It is a pretty run-down place and I would not recommend it except for a one night only stopover.

I understand that this park is one of the highest rated KOA's and I would agree. It is all anyone could want in an RV park but it was by far the most expensive place I have ever stayed.
