Great little stopping spot. We always stay in a back-country campsite for 4 or 5 days when in the Pagosa Springs area. When we come out, we go directly to Elk Meadows Resort. Clean restrooms and showers, nice laundry and all the hookups we need. Plan on staying there this September for a couple of nights. Highly recommend the spot. Only reason I didn't give it a "10" rating is it's just a flat space, few if any trees and no character, but it works. Will always go back.
Only stayed here one time and will never again! Dirty campground. Power surges that burned up my air-conditioner. Flagstaff is a railroad hub, and Black Bart's is about 2 blocks from one of the busiest tracks I've ever been around. Day and night the noise from the tracks is incessant. No thank you, we'll find another place.
This is one of the nicest Forest Service campgrounds we've ever stayed in. The volunteers are wonderful. It's nice and quiet, and we were blessed with sightings of deer and brown bear from our breakfast room table on more than on occasion. Can't recommend this campground highly enough. Will always choose this campground over the more expensive and less camper friendly places in Durango. (Been stopping in the Durango area for the past 35 years)
Stayed here for four nights. Site so small my awning couldn't be extended because it would hit adjacent trailer! Asked for "full hook-up" and didn't realize for $90 a night for a 17' RV that didn't include sewer. Worst four nights ever spent in a KOA!
We stayed here 11 nights and were very pleased. Our only complaint was the Wi-Fi kept disconnecting. But we always managed to get back on the Internet. Very pleasant campground. Was quiet and clean and the owners/operators were very helpful in all aspects. We would highly recommend this campground and will use it in the future.
Elk Creek Campground, New Castle, Colorado does not deserve the support of the RV community! I've been planning a trip to the Glenwood Springs area of Colorado for the past year to take two weeks of instructions. I tried making reservations last Fall, but none of the RV parks in the area (there are only 3!), would accept reservations until the first of April. So I did my research and found the nicest of the 3 (supposedly Elk Creek Campground) and made my reservations the 1st of March. I'm glad I did, because they were almost booked for the summer when I called! I'm supposed to leave for Glenwood Springs on the 15th of June. Just 7 days from now. Last night I received a telephone call from the campground telling me they'd cancelled my 15 day reservation, along with everyone else, because an oil company had come in and reserved the entire park for the whole season and beyond, for their employees. There are no other decent reservations in the area.
