Rate reflects Passport America. We enjoyed this campground very much. We were able to walk around the old Methodist village and quaint cottages in the complex and learned about its history with the old time camp meetings. The pool was nice but a little unkempt with old chairs and bathhouse a little primitive but that is what we expected. Met some very nice people. We did one overnight but wished we had time to stay longer. We would definitely return. The sites are very nice and shade available.

The only reason I didn't rate this campground a 10 was because, (and I fully understand why), there is a policy in place that no rugs larger than 2x3'can be put out. There's just something about being able to use a large mat to add another dimension to your space. The staff apparently have a difficult time enforcing this policy because I noticed many with large rugs out their full stay. We promptly took ours up when we found a note on our door reminding us of the policy. Although the sites for the most part are grassy, I still like to set my bare-feet on a nice clean rug. With that said we had a great time. The park is really clean and well kept, staff is great. There is an additional cost for 50 amp and cable TV. We will definitely return another day.

Stayed here two weeks in a motorhome due to family medical at UVA Hospital...campground overall very clean...pool undergoing updates, rough right now but should be pretty nice when completed...sites reasonably sufficient. Staff was great. There is little or no cell service for Verizon - Wi-Fi great. A little off the beaten path from I-64 (10 miles) but not bad...bath house clean.

I was there over the Memorial Day weekend. We have camped here before. It is actually a very nice place. I had a 33' motorhome and used lot #118 - a little tight. We don't drink the water - we always have bottled water for coffee, etc. Wi-Fi was sketchy. Staff very friendly as always. There are bunches and bunches of children with bicycles so be very careful and drive very slowly. All sites have level cement pads and grassy surroundings.and I loved that. I gave it an overall 8 because of the water and off and on Wi-Fi and some back in spots a little tight. I would definitely visit this park again.

We enjoyed this campground: staff was very friendly. Had the three grandkids with us and most of the time stayed all day in St. Augustine or at the mall, great historic area. Watch pulling onto your site; ours was a little sand soft, and I had to avoid one spot; we sort of sunk in a little. The grounds were well maintained with quiet environment, trees and shrubs between sites giving some privacy. The only reason I gave it an 8 was because the highway that separated the campground and the beach was very busy with fast traffic You really had to watch carefully crossing this highway. The second reason was Wi-Fi. Although it was available, we didn't have a signal at our site; had to go to the office to get the signal.

We knew before we arrived the road leading to the campground was rough so we didn't mind. In fact it wasn't as bad as we imagined, just take your time. My son and his family arrived before we did so I called and asked how they liked it, and my grand son said, "Well, let's put it this way; it is NOT a resort". Okay, I understand sometimes our expectations are a little high when we see the word "resort". To be quite honest, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We ended up with a lake front lot which was beautiful. The staff was super, and it was a quiet, relaxing weekend. Stuarts Draft community was a nice place to visit with an Amish store, cheese store, and laid back community with yard sales out and about. The one thing I really saw that was a little disturbing was that several campers were being used by asphalt employees. They were obviously not there for a vacation or get-a-way. Our next door neighbor had asphalting equipment next to his rig that he offered to move without our asking, but we told him not to bother. The camp roads and small bridges are a little narrow so be careful especially after dark. I would highly recommend arriving before dark. We would definitely go back again. Watch the permanent sites, as some are in need of "clean up". We used Passport America rates.

We really enjoyed this campground and had been planning to visit it for three years or more, but it was always full. Everything was nice, sites level, short walk to the beach, nice little pool and the camp store was very nice and well stocked. The price compared to others in the area was extremely cheap. Just a couple of minor things I will mention. One rule the owners have in place is no mats are to be put out. The site we had was not very grassy and more sand which is to be expected..we like to set outside but didn't do much of that due to setting in the sand. Our site was not "double width concrete site pads" as advertised on the web site but was manageable. A little tight but still roomy compared to other campgrounds. For the price, relatively speaking, you can't go wrong here.

Visited the park to decide whether to join the club. First of all I was not impressed with the sites. Very rustic, by that I mean they were unlevel for the most part and rough. I have a 33' coach and would be very reluctant to take it to this campground. I asked the security person about the "primitive" sites and she said they were in the process of beginning to improve them. It's a very scenic area with a beautiful lake and amenities. The pool is large. I wouldn't camp here until major improvements are made to the sites. (Only 30 amp available.)

Staff was great. Our site was good and level. I thought it a little tight when the adjacent spot was occupied. The water view sites were 30 amp so I had to settle for a site away from the lake view since I needed 50 amp service. New campground so maybe they'll have 50 amp service on water view soon. I wasn't impressed with the configuration of the pool, and the water was a bit chilly. The cabins were located on water front. I thought for the premier cost per night, there should be an exercise room and a pavilion for children, especially on a rainy day. Overall we enjoyed our stay, although we had a pretty good rain one night and some of the spots were partially flooded. We were told one spot with tent campers had to be moved to a cabin. I thought that was great for the staff to take care of the people. We would stay here again. I will say some of the roads in New York are like riding over rocks. No fault of the campground.

We did a couple drive throughs over the past 3 or 4 years and decided to stay here over this Memorial Day holiday. Overall it was a very nice place. The staff was friendly, bath house was new and tiled, pool was great: shallow though at 4 feet and the water extremely cold however. On the down side, the bath houses could have been kept a little cleaner for the premier rate we paid. The roads were very dusty (although we were told a water truck watered the road, we never saw it for the full 3 days we were here.) And I had been informed there were snakes. Never saw one until the day I pulled out: the biggest black snake I ever saw laying in the road at the main entrance gate where the entry code pad was located. Gave me a shock. I don't know if I can talk my wife into coming back here or not, probably not.

We recently flew from Virginia to Orlando in April and purchased a new coach and decided Pelican Lake would be the "maiden voyage." This was truly a resort and was immaculate and the personnel were very friendly and helpful. Although our motorhome was "low end" compared to 95% of the other coaches here, we met nothing but friendly fellow RV'ers. We would definitely come back again. What a great memory!
