We used this campground as our base to visit the Cubs/Brewers game and the Wisconsin state fair. The campground was very clean and the showers and pool spotless. Milwaukee is only a 30 min drive so the location is very good. Most of the sites are out in the open so bring your awning although there were some shaded sites. The staff was helpful. They have a camp store that has anything you might need at reasonable rates and there are no noticeable permanent type trailers to give the place a run down look. Overall this is a very nice park to spend a long weekend at and we will return.
Nice small state park right on Lake michigan with miles of sandy beachfront. Unfortunately the water is so clear this year that some algie covered the first 3 feet of water. Once past that the lake was fine. Stayed in site 17e which had a paved pad and 30 amp electric. Very quiet at night, not a lot to do in the immediate area, but if you are looking for a nice weekend getaway this is the place.
This is the premiere state park in Wisconsin. There is tons of things to do including, 30 miles of bike trails, many paved, swimming at the beach, light house tours, hiking, boat rentals, etc. Stayed in Tennison Bay site 304e which was very private. The next door sites were 30 yards away with bushes in between. Right outside the park is all of Door County with fish boils, cherry tours, mini golf, etc. Would definitely come back.
Stayed here for a week based on reviews listed above and was not disappointed. We were in site 5 a pull through. It was close to the pool/snackbar, game room, store, etc... Our site was very wide so we were not crowded awning to awning and this place is very wooded. We only heard the road noise one day and it was not that bad although if you are in site 64 or 65 you are right next to the highway. This place has over 700 sites but everything was so clean and we did not notice any permanent sites. Gettysburg is a great location to see the surrounding area. We spent 3 days seeing the battlefield attractions (tours, museums, ghost tours, etc...) and then visited Hershey (1:15min drive) Lancaster county Amish attractions (1:30min) shopping , shopping, shopping, and 1 day just swimming in the pool/longing at the campground. We only used the front pool not the back waterslide pool, but the front pool is very nice with zero depth entry, waterfall, snack bar etc... Overall this place rates as one of the top ten places we have camped at. Comparable to the nicest state parks and just below Topsail Hill and Fort Wilderness.
Great park for families with children. Yes it is near the expressway but I got used to the low rumble after awhile and tuned it out. At night our air conditioning drowned out the road noise . This place has many activities for the kids, a great pool and is building a water park. The facilities were clean everytime I used them. The sites could be larger but are not cramed together. It is located 5 min away from everything the dells have to offer. The lake access shack mentioned above is a little run down, but the river connects to Mirror Lake state park which has a no wake limit. Over all a very nice place to stay while seeing the dells.
Very nice state park. Big shadey sites, with electric. Small concesion on site. Close to Galena. The only problem I saw was that on Memorial Day weekend the bathrooms were not kept clean. It was very crowded but every time I went into the bathrooms they were dirty. Besides that though the place is very well maintained with a very good ranger presence to keep the riff-raff out. Close to but not on the Mississippi river.
