This campground was nice. It was fairly un-veven but most of us are prepared to level our rigs. We had a tent with us as well and there were several sites that had plenty of room for both. Our site had a wood patio with a picnic table on it that was nice. We could see the lake through the trees but there was no way to access it. We enjoyed the view. The road was a little hilly and narrow. The bathroom and showers were clean but were a little old so are likely to look more dirty then they are. There is no camp store and it is a several minute drive to the gas station. The marina has some things but they close at 6:00 pm. The marina is very nice and has boats for rent. They were the about the cheapest in the area. We borrowed tennis equipment from the fitness center for free. The fitness area looked very nice and there is an indoor pool. We would stay here again.
We were very happy with this campground. It was cheaper then a KOA and whole lot closer to all the state parks. Especially Carter caves State Resort park. It had sewer hookups right at the site so we had no need for a bathhouse and we didn't need to pull up at a dump station. It was very quiet and we felt very safe there, unlike some other private campgrounds. The owners were very friendly and happy to help. It was just moments from town and I-64. There is even a gas station and grocery store right on that road so you don't even need to go into town if you don't want to. We were very pleased to be close to so many different state parks which our family loves. I checked yes on family type campground even though there was no playground because we were a family with kids from ages 3-17 and saw no reason not to stay there. Some people complained about the narrow entrance but I saw several big rigs pull in. You just need to pull into the lane on the far left, closest to the sign. We will stay there again.
We camped here before we got our travel trailer and it was fantastic. It was one of the very best state park campgrounds we had been to. We had a spot on the outer ring that was very large and had shade trees. We were right across from the playground and bath house. There was no camp store and you have to drive several minutes to get to a gas station but other then that I would suggest it to anyone.
