This is a great park for fall and winter camping. The small lake has struggled the past few years due to drought conditions in this area so there is not much to do as far as the lake is concerned. However, there is plenty to do if you like hiking or biking the trails, shopping in the nearby town of Coldspring (they have their monthly town square trade days the last Saturday of the month), visiting the historic jail house, or eating at the old style dinner in town. We always reserve one of the full hook-up sites that are paved, reasonably level with a good hook-up pedestal, and that is appropriately positioned. The satellite TV reception is OK, but not great; and the antenna TV reception is poor. This is because of the remote location and abundant tree coverage. The rest rooms are typical Forest service facilities. Not outstanding but adequate. Since we have full hook-ups, this is not an issue to us. The park is shady and very beautiful on a cool crisp fall morning. We have been coming to this park for years and will continue.
This was an incredible RV facility; however there were issues that I feel should be mentioned. Location is incredible. We were able to walk everywhere; restaurants, bars, shopping, the boardwalk area, and a short walk across the street to the beach. The free trolley from 4 PM to midnight has a stop directly in front of the park and was convenient and easy to use. The park was easy to get to and we did not have any problems navigating our 33 foot fifth wheel into the facility or our site. This park is not on the beach side but on the bay side. It does have a sandy beach, but a rocky bulk head between the sand and the water. Also the water in the sound is not pristine and most of the time while we were there had a fishy smell. There was a step pier and a kayak slot to easily enter the water. The actual sites were pristine concrete sites. Our premium site was perfectly level and had 2 very nice pedestals. This way you had a pedestal on the correct side whether backed in or pulled in forward. The water, electricity and sewer connections were very convenient and easy to use. Cable TV is available with plenty of channels to choose from. However; if you have one of the deluxe sites on the inside of the loop, be aware that the pedestals are on the wrong side if backed in with a fifth wheel or TT. This puts the entry door opening to the neighbor’s pedestal and their electrical/water connections running through your site or beneath your picnic table. The 2 bath rooms that they had were also pristine. Very large, extremely clean and well equipped. However; they only had 2 for the entire park. And these 2 bath rooms were also located next to the pool so they were also the only bath room facility for the people using the pool. The pool was very small, but it was very nice and refreshing. There were 4 or 5 tables with umbrellas and plenty of chairs and lounges. However; the park staff was apparently neglecting their pool maintenance duties and a city inspector surprised them while we were there and promptly closed the pool due to inadequate pool chemicals. The pool was then closed for almost 2 full days. Cable TV was completely out for one evening, and the ice machine only worked about 20% of the time we were there. The staff at the park was very nice and seem willing to accommodate; however when I approached them with my issues (mainly the pool being closed) they just blew me off. Although this park has some issues as far as I am concerned, and their prices are extreme, I do consider this a very nice park, and we had a great vacation.
This was definitely one of the best RV parks we have ever stayed at, although we were only here for one night while traveling. The park was easy for us to get to and very convenient to I-10. It is located about 2 miles south on the interstate so it’s peaceful and quite. Zero highway noise. We paid $30 with our Good Sam discount. All sites are pristine concrete pads, and the interior roads are concrete as well, we did not have any problems navigating our 33 foot fifth wheel into the facility or our pull-through site. Our site was perfectly level and the pedestal was appropriately positioned for very easy water, electricity and sewer hookup. They have cable TV with plenty of channels to choose from. They have 2 immaculate pools. One is for families and the other is for adults only. They both have a huge covered area with tables and chairs, and the adult pool also has a Jacuzzi/hot tub and what appeared to be a 100 inch HD TV, that is always available to use. The restroom/shower house was unbelievable. It was large, very clean and air conditioned. The park is fairly new so there is no shade; however they do have very nice oak trees planted about the facility that are about 10 feet tall, so one day there will be shade. My only suggestion for this park…..plant some more trees. Although we only stayed here for one night, I could easily see us spending a few days or several days at this park. I highly recommend this park.
We stayed at this park only one night while traveling. The park was easy for us to get to and convenient to I-10 and I-12. We paid $37 with our Good Sam discount. They do charge an extra $5 for every child over 10 years old. We had a concrete pull-through site, and I had no problems entering the site or leaving the site. The pedestal was conveniently located for an easy water and electricity connection. They do not have cable TV, but there were plenty of channels from the New Orleans TV stations with my RV antenna. I did have to use one Lynx leveler to get my rig level, even though it was a concrete pad. The park is very full with what appears to be permanent residents, and some of the rigs were total trashy dumps. To us, some were a major eyesore. The rest room and shower facility was small, yet adequate. It was not air conditioned so taking a shower in the heat of the day will be sweltering. They do not have a pool. We did not try the Wi-Fi. Office staff was very friendly and accommodating. Although I would not choose this park for a vacation park, and considered the price too high for what you get, for us it was fine for an overnight stop.
This is a great park and the staff was fabulous. Access to the park was very easy. Maneuvering through the park was no problem with our 33 foot fifth wheel trailer. Sites were shady and roomy. The hook-ups were well positioned. Cable TV worked great and the bath house was amazing. There were 12 individual private rooms with shower and rest facilities. The bath house was very clean.
This was a nice park with extremely friendly, helpful staff. The sites had level, gravel RV pads, and the utilities were in good shape and well positioned on the site. There was no cable TV but the reception on the Memphis TV stations was adequate for news, weather, cartoons etc. There was plenty of grass between the sites but there was absolutely no shade. The sites were a bit close, but still plenty of room. We had a pull through site and had no problems positioning our 33’ fifth wheel. The restrooms were clean but were not air conditioned. The pool was very nice and stayed open late during our stay in mid July. This park is perfect for visiting Graceland. Everything is walking distance. I had read before our trip that some folks were concerned about safety and security in the area. We stayed here 2 nights and felt a constant presence by the staff and had absolutely no concerns what-so-ever for our safety or security. I was perfectly comfortable in this park. The Rock N Roll cafe is located in front of the park (actually in front of Heartbreak Hotel) and we saw a great Elvis show and had a good meal. Kids were able to go in and we had a great time. The staff at the Rock N Roll cafe was awesome. We highly recommend this park.
This was a nice park with extremely friendly, helpful staff. The sites had level, gravel RV pads, and a great concrete patio with picnic table. The utilities were in good shape and were well positioned on the site. There was no cable TV but the reception on the Nashville TV stations was adequate for news, weather etc. There was plenty of grass between the sites and a nice amount of shade. The sites were a bit close, but still plenty of room and I had no problems backing in my 33’ fifth wheel. The restrooms were clean and air conditioned. The pool was very nice and stayed open at least until 9 pm. There was live country music on the patio near the pool that was fun and entertaining. This park is in a great location, right next door to Camping World, and just down the street from the Grand Ole Opry. We highly recommend this park.
This was the most over priced RV Park we have ever stayed at. The sites had gravel RV pads that were horribly un-level. The landscape was dismal, and there was almost no shade. I noticed a dozen or more trees throughout the park with no leaves on them, and we were there in Mid July. The utilities were in OK shape but were terribly positioned in relationship to my RV. I had to almost park the rear of my rig in the road so my sewer hose with extension would reach the sewer drop. The restrooms were clean, but no AC. There were 2 rest room buildings in the RV park, but in one of the buildings the men’s room was closed, out of order, the entire time we were there. In the only open men’s room in the park area, one of the 3 toilets was out of order the entire time we were there. The pool was large and very nice, but was always crowded. The park welcomed (for a fee) day visitors to use the water activities. The water slide was a big hit for my kids, but it cost an additional $6 per day, per kid, even though we were paying almost $45 per night. I would not recommend this park, and will not return.
This is probably one of the nicest, scenic state parks we have ever stayed in. It definitely rivals our great Texas state parks. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, even after closing when we arrived late at night. The roads were black top and the sites had level black top RV pads as well. The full hook-up utilities were in good shape and well positioned on the site. Local TV reception from Huntsville was very good. There were plenty of trees so the sites were completely shaded. The sites were very large and roomy. There was plenty of privacy between sites. The rest rooms were decent, but were the typical state park flavor. This was not an issue for us because we were using the full hook-ups. There was a great swimming hole over at the day area. Only problem here was you had to drive to get to it because it was too far to walk with lawn chairs, towels, ice chest, etc. Price was $19 per night. We highly recommend this park.
Unless you are desperate….I would keep driving. The reason we originally selected this park was because it was the only one I could find in the area. We pulled in and selected a site, but never saw any personnel. The campground was a deserted, hilly, un-level rocky field of weeds. The actual site was reasonably level, but the utilities were terribly positioned at the very back of the pad. I had to use my extension for my electric and would have had to use my extensions for sewer and water had we planned to use full hook-ups. We were only staying for the night so we planned to use the campground restrooms instead of hooking up. When my wife and kids went to check out the restrooms, they returned and said hook it back up, we are not staying here. The rest rooms were hot, muggy and dirty, and there were bugs all over the place. We hooked up and departed. I would not recommend this park and will not return.
This was a very nice park, with a great price. We paid about $27 with GS discount. Like all the parks in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, the sites were very close together, but from what we saw from the other parks that we drove through, this park has as much room as any of them and more than most of them. This park is also located off the main road, so it was not as crowded getting in and out, and traffic noise was non-existent. It was however centrally located, so getting to all the attractions was easy and convenient. The staff at this park was friendly, and the one and only issue we had (a breaker kept tripping), they had replaced on a Sunday afternoon very shortly after I reported it. The sites had level, gravel RV pads, and a great concrete patio with picnic table. The utilities were in good shape (especially after the breaker was replaced) and were well positioned on the site. There was standard cable TV with lots of choices. There was plenty of grass between the sites and a nice amount of shade. I had no problems backing in my 33’ fifth wheel. The restrooms were clean, air conditioned, and well appointed. The pool was very small but adequate to accommodate my kids. It was open until 10 or so during our stay in mid July. We highly recommend this park.
This was a very nice park with extremely friendly staff. The sites were gravel and level. The utilities were in good shape and well positioned on the site. We had a pull-through site and had no problems positioning our 33’ fifth wheel. The restrooms were 5 star clean, air conditioned, and very well appointed. The pool was very nice with the clearest blue water we saw on our entire 17 day vacation. It was open late during our stay in mid July. We highly recommend this park.
This is a converted KOA. It is a bit weathered, but a good stop for an overnight stay. The staff was extremely friendly. The sites were gravel and level. The utilities were dated, but well positioned on the site. There was some grass between the sites and some shade. The sites were roomy and easy to get in to. We had a pull-through site and had no problems positioning our 33’ fifth wheel. The restrooms were clean, well appointed and AC. The pool was great for the kids and stayed open late during our stay in mid July. We would definitely stay again for a one night stop.
Great park. The best camp host I have ever encountered. They actually escorted me to our site, spent a few minutes with me then poured some bleach solution on the water faucet to sanitize. I've never seen this.
