This place was very comfortable and quiet. We travel with a cat and he had a ball in the woods. The park was relatively empty. We enjoyed it so much that we stayed here again on our trip back out west.
We've been stopping here for the past 4-5 years. It used to be $20 a night and everything worked...hot tub, cable, internet. Now it's almost double the price and nothing works!! No hot tub available when we were here, snowy cable, and slow internet. How anyone can give this place a 9 is beyond us.
Contrary to the previous review of June 2012, we found the management of this campground to be sorely lacking. The owner is an absentee owner most of the time. There are too many "work campers" who are here taking advantage of the "system." The campground is for sale, so maybe if an on site owner were to come on board and "clean house," so to speak, that problem would be resolved. The campground in itself has the potential to be a real jewel. It is conveniently located near shopping, golf, fishing, etc. which keeps it as popular as it is. Also, there are many shaded sites, which is nice in the summer months as it does get pretty warm during the day in this part of Colorado in the summer months. The campground could use some updating of the water system also. The water often comes out brownish from the faucet, so use bottled water for drinking, making coffee, etc. Also, the water pressure gets very low at times: don't know why. Anyway, if the place were to sell, and positive changes were made in the above areas, this would be a definite "10."
This place is just above a parking lot, BUT, it was convenient to the Grand Canyon Railroad, and to Williams. The site we were in was not level. The TV had very limited channels, the Wi-Fi worked "OK". This place served the purpose of being close to Williams, we could have easily walked there, and we had a great experience on Route 66. The swimming pool had so much chlorine that I could hardly breathe, so no pool for me, or hot tub! There was a great deal to do and we enjoyed our stay.
Even though I would not consider this a destination CG, one could not have expected more for being in the middle of the desert. Everything worked great, TV, Wi-Fi, 50 amp electric, great swimming pool, friendly owners, friendly campers, etc. They had a cook out in the morning and evening the food was good as well as the prices. We really had a nice time here. Convenient to the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest. Spent two nights.
As others have mentioned the park is clean and the people that run this place are friendly, as were the other campers. It's nice to be near the Dolores river and the location to town. Now here is why I gave it a lower rating. The water pressure was very low sometimes below 30 PSI, and I went and checked other sites that were vacant and the pressure was the same. At the time we were here the TV was horrible as well as the Wi-Fi. Near the southwest part of the CG, right behind site 11, there is a sewage treatment facility. When the breeze was right you could detect a sewer smell as well as the noise from the pumps. But all in all, we would stay here again if in this area. We just know what to expect.
We had business in Maryville, and we stayed here for one week. This is the second time we have stayed here. The previous posters are correct; plenty of room, TV was good, as well as Wi-Fi and the cleanest bathrooms ever. This time we did notice that there were more people living there. I hope this doesn't get out of hand.
This place had quite a bit of highway noise. The Wi-Fi didn't work and the TV kept cutting out. The positives: easy check in, level site, and nice interior roads. But too pricey and noisy for one night.
This place is really something. I've read about this campground, and when you see a tug boat with ten barges within 200 yards it's a sight to see. We stayed very soon after they were flooded, and you could hardly tell this place was under water. Everything worked great! Site was a level pull through, we had some shade, and great views of the Mississippi. We also couldn't believe that the washer and dryer were FREE! Great experience!
What a pleasant campground. The lady that checked us in was also the owner. She was very nice and even gave my wife and I a chocolate mint. The site was level, we had shade, there was a 3-hole golf area, the pool was great and refreshing. There was a tennis court and the campground setting provided a nice place to walk. Was very quiet at night. We will stay here again.
Everyone before me gave this place a 10, and they are right. This place is heaven on Earth. The owner is a hard working man trying to keep his place comfortable for you and me! He is doing an outstanding job! The only concern that I had, and it does not change the 10 rating, is the washers and dryers were a bit expensive. BUT, I would not have known that if my wife and other ladies hadn't said something! Thanks for providing some great memories and fishing!
Well the weather that occurred in the past month the campground that we chose was closed due to flooding, and the other was full. We had business in Memphis and we found this campground. We were pleasantly surprised how clean the grounds are. The folks that run this place were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Everything worked great. If we had business again in Memphis we would not hesitate to stay here again.
This is what I'm talking about. Friendly owner, everything was in tip top shape, and all in good working order. The Wi-Fi was EXCELLENT as well as the TV and priced right. Great stop over and close to the interstate without any hwy. noise.
We arrived here with zero expectations, and were pleasantly surprised. We were in Gunnison for the adventure. Even though this place did not offer cable TV, antenna worked just fine with about 5 or 6 channels mostly news. It was centrally located to all that one might want to do. The Wi-Fi was one of the best we have used in a campground. The lake to the west and town to the east, all within a few miles. Very friendly people running this place, as well as the work campers. Electric and water pressure perfect! We will/would return here again.
We pulled in here last minute as it was starting to snow. What a good decision it was. Very well laid our CG. Everything worked great. Real nice people. This place is a bit away from Amarillo itself, but not a bad drive. There's a gas station close by and a sandwich shop. That was convenient. We really didn't have too much time to really look around but we will stay here again.
Nice clean campground. Easy check-in and everyone was friendly and helpful. We had a pull through site with a concrete pad. Our site was nice and level. Good TV, WiFi and all hookups worked fine. The road noise (we were up front) was kind of annoying, especially in the middle of the night when everything else is quiet. A site in the back of the CG probably would fix that. Nice place to take a walk at the back of the CG with a small pond. Very peaceful. We would stay here again.
We stayed here for a week to attend a family function in Maryville. I'm sure that it was not a busy time of the year for this campground. We were very pleased with the facilities. I couldn't believe how much room one had. The sites were very level. Everything worked just fine. The bathrooms were great, probably the best we have seen in awhile. I must say that the Wi-Fi was excellent, better than usual. We really enjoyed the "Little River" that flowed near the property. Very relaxing. Even though there wasn't any shade they did have trees planted. I'm sure that in years to come this will develop into a great place to stay. We will be back...
This was their opening day, April 1. Standard check in. The young girl at the desk didn't know anything about the campground. She just politely pointed and said that we can park anywhere over there. Well we just walked over to where she pointed and picked out a site. We had a back in with a nice pond out our back window. The site was not very level but it was for one night so we didn't spend too much time making it real level. The overall campground was very nice, with two ponds and nice green grass to walk our dog. The Wi-Fi, TV and all hookups worked fine. This place was away from the interstate but not a difficult drive. We would stay here again.
We decided to stay here last minute as the weather was getting bad. (thunderstorms and heavy rain) We were greeted by pleasant folks and checked in right away. There were other folks checking in, and I noticed that they were receiving the same pleasant treatment. We were promptly showed to our site, and the gentleman stayed for awhile to see if we needed any assistance. I couldn't have asked for more. Everything worked great, electric, Wi-Fi, cable TV, water pressure etc. This is a diamond in the rough. We would stay here again. The $35.00 was due to our 17 year old son was with us.
A no-frills park with very large pull-through sites. Great for an overnight stay. Staff very friendly at check-in. Couldn't be located later when we had a question about the wireless. There seems to be full time residents (welders and their families), but they were very friendly. We would stay here again if we were passing through this area.
