This is an old KOA, but it has been remodeled and is in good condition. All utilities worked well and our site was wide enough but required some leveling. A couple of drawbacks, one it is right next to the interstate so if you are in the back you get lots of noise. Also, there has been a salvage yard opened right across the street, so there is a lot of junk cars to view. Ok for a one night stop-over.
Very clean and comfortable campground. Stayed one night here on way home but, would not hesitate to stay here any length of time. Sites are shady and level, wide and quiet. It has a pleasant park like feel. We were very comfortable here. I will make it a point to stay here again.
Stayed one night here while going home. Was ok for just a stopover, but I wouldn't stay more than that. It had that "trailer park" feel and look. Had a lot of permanent units. Attendant was friendly and helpful, he helped us back in to our site. Wi-Fi was great and cable TV must have had 60 channels.
This is one of the nicest KOA campgrounds that I have stayed at. Lots of activities and "stuff" for the kids. Pancake breakfast at the big tent. Only a very short drive to Rushmore. Very busy campground so reservations a must. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Good wide sites. Interior roads are dirt with sparse gravel. Sites not very level and took some work to get level. Store was stocked with pretty much anything you would need camping. Laundry is clean and worked well. 4 washers and 4 driers. Away from I-90 so no road noise. Good "stop over" park. One of the best Wi-Fi sites we have used. No cable TV. We would stay here again.
This is a new park: 2 years old. They have trees and other landscaping done but the trees are still small at 2 years. The lawn was one of the prettiest we have seen, very good job. It is next to the freeway, but there is a bank between the hiway and park so we didn't notice any excessive road noise. Not much to do in the area, but this is a very good and clean park for a night's sleep. The office/store is nothing but an office presently, very scarce grocery items. I would gladly stay here again.
We had intended to stay here 6 nights but extended it to 8, there was a lot to see and do in/around Portland. This is a nice clean park, everything worked well and the staff was friendly. The sites were wide and level. You can park your truck/toad in front of RV or beside, sites are concrete and laid out to allow either. They even have concrete sidewalks for foot traffic, I have never seen this in a park before. This was one of the nicer parks I have stayed in and would definitely stay again.
I agree with the other comments about this park. The store/restroom/laundry was clean and the pool looked good. The park is old, and it's next to a bird sanctuary they tell me, so they can't expand the attendant said. I would eliminate some sites and give my guests ample room. I could not use my awning without being in my neighbors sewer pipe. UGH! I made the mistake of booking five nights here, boy have I learned a lesson. I will not stay here again nor recommend this park. I have camped for 20 years in 5th wheels and motorhomes all across this great land, this was one of the most crowded I have been in. Look elsewhere!
Very well run park, owners live on site. I have stayed here for the past 8 years, so that tells you I like it here. Sites are wide enough and facilities are spotless. The only thing I would like to see is cable TV and a noise barrier to cut down on road noise from Hwy 89. Beautiful setting with mountain background and Yellowstone River at your back door. This is in the top 3 parks I have stayed at in America.
