We've stayed at this RV park the last 2 summers & will continue to do so! We love this campground! It is very clean, very nice & the owners are wonderful! I enjoy walking up & down the mountain roads within the park for exercise. We'll be back!!
This was our first time to stay at this RV park. We weren't impressed! We called early enough to get a good spot and were told there should be no problem getting a good site. Using their website map, we requested several spots that we felt would be suitable. Instead, after we arrived, we found that they stuck us in the WORST spot that they had. We had no shade, next to a busy highway, which you could hear the whole time, and terrible, slow WiFi. When we complainted, we were ignored. Finally, we were moved to another site in the park. Why weren't we allowed to park in that new site earlier?? We found the staff to be rather rude and the majority of the sites are tight, narrow and close together. Will we stay there again? NO! We have since tried Buckhorn, just a few miles away and LOVED IT!
We enjoyed Omega Farms RV Retreat, The owners and staff are very polite and want your stay to be the best! The park is extremely clean. WiFi works well. We stayed near the large pond and enjoyed fishing off the dock. This is a catch and release pond. There are also paddle boats available at no charge. The path that circles around the pond and through the park is a great way to exercise and walk the dogs. We would recommend staying at this RV park! We will be back!
Park is small, very clean and well maintained. When we arrived a very friendly guy greeted us and helped us get backed into our site. There is a busy road next to the park, and a baseball / football stadium nearby: so you can hear the loudspeakers occasionally. Over Labor Day weekend, the park owners held a buffet and had karoke. Sites are very close together and there is a river that runs through the campground. We would consider staying here again.
We've stayed at this park several times - it seems there's more full timers now. Park is quiet, accepts Good Sams & seems well maintained. We arrived after hours & followed the check in directions posted outside the office. When we paid for our site the following morning no one was in the office. I would rather have used our credit card, but chose not to since the rules outside the office direct campers to fill out an envelope with name & address & then to write your credit card number & expiration on the back of the envelope & then push the envelope thru a slot in the wall of the office. That's not good business practice when it comes to credit cards! Who knows if they shred the envelopes, just pitch them, who sees them, etc.
Fantastic campground! This is the most beautiful park! It is meticulously groomed! It is a tad pricey but definitely worth it! Depending on the time of year, they cater meals & feature movies on their cable system every night. They have a guy that goes to the rigs & does a superior job of washing & waxing rigs - we were pleased by the job he did. Buckhorn also has a handyman that is available to work on the individual rigs & repairs whatever needs to be done (in our case, we needed to have our a/c worked on & he fixed it professionally. The roads are all paved, as are the sites. There are 2 or 3 pools & one of them is for adults only. We also stated in the adult section. The exercise room is clean & the equipment well maintained. Wi-Fi is fast & dependable. Interstate 10 is nearby & is a little noisy but other than that, this park is perfect & we gladly give it a 10!
This KOA is a major disappointment! It is actually nothing more than a gravel parking lot with a few trees thrown in. The staff isn't the greatest. We decided since we were just passing thru, we would use their cable TV - but it was mostly fuzz. When we mentioned it to the host, he said, 'oh, others have complained about the low end channels'. We told him that all of the channels were fuzzy & not viewable so we ended up using our satellite. I was also extremely disappointed in the pool - if someone were to drown in it - it be hard to see them & it's a SHALLOW pool. The pool is nothing short of nasty. The floor of the pool looked blackish gray & moldy & the water was dark & foggy! Also, an airfield is somewhere in the area & we sometimes heard planes coming & going - but this is something the park naturally can not help; other then the planes, the campground is quiet. This park has the potential to be really nice but in it's current state it leaves a lot of be desired! TLC is definitely needed! We WON'T be back!
I oftentimes check out the reviews just to see what campgrounds sound like wonderful places to visit! We've stayed at some wonderful campgrounds thanks to this website! I noted the recent particularly negative review (Jan 2008), about the Amarillo KOA & I haven't left a recent post on it, so now I am. We have stayed at this park every August on our way to & from northern New Mexico. Yes, you have to pass by a mobile home park & fields to get there & there is occasional airplane & train sounds (from a distance), but those are the only negatives that I can think of! During our last stay this past August, their sewer system had been accidentally damaged by someone, in another area digging into the city's sewer line, thus affecting the KOA park. They were decreasing the campers fee to compensate for the inconvience & allowing campers to empty their gray water tanks, just not black water. They were very apologetic about the situation & I'm sure by now, the city has fixed the mishap. The staff is very friendly & goes over & beyond in making campers stay pleasant. They also escort you to your site & stay around to make sure your pleased. We did see the cute hayride wagon loaded with campers & it was darling! The park also furnishes cute little cycles to ride around the park in. Their pool is immaculate (I know, I'm an avid swimmer) & their gift shop is darling! Their grocery area in the office is very well stocked & reasonably priced. The cable & wifi work well & wonderful cookies are given out at registration. The campground is very clean & pretty much quiet! Will we go back there? Absolutely!
This KOA provided us with our worst experience ever with a KOA campground! It's also the only time that we called KOA's national office for assistance! We made reservations 6 weeks early to stay at this particular park & also put in a request that our friends (who also RV) would be parked next to us. We were assured that we would have no problems with this request. I gave my credit card number to hold our site, as did our friends. Upon arrival, we were met by a husband & wife team who were very RUDE desk clerks. They seemed uneducated & unclean. The woman became incensed & angry when I tried to pay for our site with my debit card. She began arguing with me about why I couldn't pay with the credit card that I had held our site with. I explained to her that that shouldn't matter. (KOA - home office agreed with me). Finally, she gave us our site after she verbally berated us & treated us very nasty. We remained nice to her, but to no avail. When our friends then tried to get their site, they were placed clear across the park. When they stated that we had 6 weeks earlier reserved a site next to us, the woman's husband, loudly told us to leave the park & to leave then. The park was only 1/3 full & we had empty spots all around us & next to us where our friends could have stayed. At that point, I called the home office of KOA & was talking to them about the situation when another park worker arrived. He apologized for the situation & told us that it was fine if we parked our rigs next to each other & that if we had any other problems to bring them to his attention. We went ahead & stayed for a couple of days but we were stayed away from the hateful couple. The only redeeming feature of this park was their pool - but beware . . . while I was swimming, I noticed a couple of male park workers intensely watching me & it made me uncomfortable. There are NO other amenities! The park actually looks like a parking lot with gravel, no trees. Would we stay here again? NEVER! There are many other nice RV parks around the area.
Very nice campground, but a tad noisy with the interstate next to the park. We made our reservations via their website over the weekend & we received confirmation. I'm thankful that we phoned before arrival because their website/email hadn't been checked & they had no idea we were on our way. So a word of advice, always follow up with a quick phone call if you book by computer. Staff was very nice & park was very clean. We would have no problem staying here again!
Wonderful campground! This is probably the nicest, cleanest campground we've ever stayed at or at least one of the nicest & cleanest! It definitely has the WOW factor! Check in is very efficient & friendly. There are 2 swimming pools - one for adults, the other for families. Pads are concrete & trash is picked up each morning. This campground is impeccable! It has many things to do & is in a beautiful location! We do plan to return!
I was surprised to read the prior reviews. We camped at this campground this past June & absolutely loved it! It is literally 'on the beach' & on the quaint, rustic side. While the sites are a little small, we had no problem fitting our 36 ft, 4 slide 5th wheel into a site & was even able to use our awning easily. The staff were work campers & they were very friendly & informative! They were leaving in August so no doubt, new people are working the desk now. To get to the beach, you walk to the back of the campground to where there's a gate & then follow along a wooden decked sidewalk till you arrive at the beach - believe me, it's right there! We could walk from the beach to our campsite in a minute. We had a wonderful time during our stay & we will be returning.
Park is set in beautiful Texas Hill Country. When we called for reservations, only 1 site was available. The office staff took our name & said the spot would be saved for us. When we arrived the following afternoon, a sign out front said 'no vacancy'. However, when we pulled up to the office, it was closed but there was a sign posted on the door with our name & the site number that we were to use - it was like they 'left the light on for us'. The owners are originally from Germany - but they are proud American citizens & they are very, very nice. They are also very attentive to their guests. The RV park is just outside of Marble Falls & is right off the highway - but it is still a pretty quiet park. We felt very safe & secure here. This park seems to stay pretty full most of the time. We would have absolutely no problem staying here again!
This is a very nice campground, in Burleson, just south of Fort Worth. The park was managed well & very clean. 2 pools were available - one for adults & the other for children - both were sparkling clean. Free, dependable wifi is also available & worked great! The sites are grassy & spacious & the section we were in had small trees. The park is in the process of expansion. We would have no problem staying here again - the only negative that we have is the nearby highway & traffic. The campground is located right off of the highway & it can get a tad noisy. Also, we made our reservations by internet - fortunately, we called while on the road to verify our reservations & the weekend staff doesn't have access to the online reservations & this park fills up frequently, so be sure to call ahead. Again, this is a very nice park & worth your checking out.
Very nice RV park. I noticed in the prior post that the writer was unhappy with the mobile homes that are present - but it IS advertised as an RV & mobile home park. Both times we have stayed there, there have been more RV's than mobile homes. The mobile home residents appear to follow stringent rules, i.e no clothes lines, no vehicles parked in the streets, sites must be kept immaculate, etc. The park is well laid out & sites are roomy. Staff is friendly & helpful & pool has been clean during both of our visits. Campground is quiet & clean & the nicest in town. We've had no problems during our visits there & felt safe.
Very nice, quiet & clean campground. The staff is very polite, friendly & helpful. The pool & bathhouse are in the process of being completed & a recreation room is available. The campground is well situated & easy to get to. You do have to pay for wifi but it is reasonably priced & very dependable. We definitely will return.
Water Valley is a tiny community with an RV park that is located just out of San Angelo, Tx. Tom Green County maintains the park. When you arrive at the campground, you park where there is an available site (first come, first serve). An attendant will come by your RV to collect payment. Even though there are no sewer hookups at the sites, there is a dump station. This is a beautiful park, next to a small river. It is very quiet & you can't hear highway noise. There are no showers, but there are small wooden structures with toilets. There is also a stone, covered building/pavillion that can be rented out. The lightening bugs are wonderful to watch here. There are lots of trees. This place is perfect for just getting away.
Very nice campground. RV park is easy to get on & off I-10. Extremely clean park & very friendly staff. Pool in good condition. Also tennis courts were available. Beautifully maintained floral planters & trees. The only complaints I would have is that you can hear the traffic off the interstate but it isn't too bad & the exercise room is locked in the evening when the staff goes off duty. Other than that, this is a great campground & one we will visit again.
Really great campground! Right off the interstate, so it's easy on & easy off. Interstate noise wasn't bad since there are so many trees surrounding the park. Campground is VERY clean & well maintained. The staff, sporting their yellow KOA shirts are always working on the campground. Very friendly & polite office staff. We were escorted to our site, just to be sure that everything was suitable & to our liking. Very clean pool, nice gameroom & good cable connection. Good provisions in office. We will be back!
We have stayed at this campground several times. The staff is absolutely wonderful & family operated. They are meticulous down to the last detail! They take you via golf cart to the various available sites to let you select which one you prefer. The campground does cater to the senior set, but we're baby boomers & still enjoyed it. They provide games, snacks & meals in the rec room, on certain days. You can also walk down to the river or use their wonderful building that houses their exercise equipment & a large assortment of books to choose from. The laundry room is also located there, along with small private rooms which are available for those who wish to paint or do some kind of crafting. Wonderful campground! We'll be back!
After a year, I am finally getting around to ranking this campground. We were on our way to cook in the big Terlingua International Chili Cook-off Nov 2004 & stayed one night at this park. The people that own it are apparently ranchers. We called ahead to get directions & were advised that they would meet us at the office. By the time we arrived, it was a cold, cold, windy night & even sleeting. We got to the office before the owners, but once they arrived, we got checked in & got a site. It was miserable hooking up in the extreme cold, wind & sleet, but finally we managed. There were only about 3 campers there at the time. We never had the time to really check out their facilities but we do know they had added a new building with tv. The campground overall, appeared pretty new, very clean & the lady that checked us in was very nice. The campground does offer a beautiful view. We would have no problem staying there again sometime.
Fairly ok park. We pulled in here one evening during a trip & stayed the one night. The guy in the office was polite. Cable is an extra charge. Initially we decided against cable but when I let the office know that we had changed our minds & provided the extra couple of bucks they turned it down & said, 'go ahead & watch it - no charge'. A lot of the sites were listed as 'unusable' but we don't know why. Seems like an ok place to stay when your passing thru, but there is a truckstop practically next door so it can be a bit noisy there.
We've stayed at this park a few times. The staff & office is nice, as is the pool area. A fenced dog area is available. They were a bit stingy on their cable. Unless your going to stay numerous nights, it costs extra. The park itself is nice but the surrounding area is not. A mobile home park is also attached. The chief complaint we've had about this park is that the trees need to be cut back - it is very difficult to fit our RV in our space without scratching it plus we met with problems sliding our slides out.
Nice campground, fairly new. Very polite staff. Park used to be a fishery. Restaurant is available from Thursday to Sunday. Park features a gift shop, trout feeding pond & hiking & biking trails. Has a laundry room. Carrizo Creek runs thru park. Rallies are welcomed. We liked this park & look forward to staying there again.
This RV park is definitely just for 'over nighters'. No frills! Thank goodness for satellite TV cause they have no cable TV & the TV antenna doesn't work well here - very fuzzy picture. They do have a TV/activity room but it always appeared to be locked. The staff is friendly & the park is clean. Office is closed for several hours during the day so campers select their own site. Right off I-10.
Basically ok park. Owner/staff were very friendly & helpful. WIFI is available & free but it has a long way to go to be dependable! Seems every time the wind blows (which is a lot in Wy), the WIFI frequently goes off line. Western Hills wouldn't win any beauty contests due to being dirt & gravel, but the park is kept clean & has attractive small lattice fences with plants/vines growing on them, between RV's. A young girl knocked on our door the few mornings we were there to ask if she could disconnect our water for a few minutes to water the 'lattice' plants. The park is located just off a busy highway. Western Hills features a mini golf course, play ground & laundry room. Paperback books are available in the office for campers enjoyment. If we pass thru Wy again, I'd have no problem staying the night at Western Hills, again.
Wonderful park & hosts/owners! We have stayed here numerous times & it is our Fredericksburg campground of choice. Well tended pool, nice laundry room, clean bathrooms & wonderful playground for kids. Owner guides you to your site. Campground is very secure! Along the back fence you can view farm animals & some exotic animals. Owners are very responsive, helpful & honest. Campsites are extremely clean & all hookups are in top notch order. Campground is quiet & located just outside busy Fredericksburg & is also just a few miles from Luckenbach. Very convenient to Texas Hill Country & numerous wineries. We recommend reservations. Very nice campground! We'll be back!
OK park. Earlier reviewer mentioned a restaurant across the street from the campground, however, the restaurant is now closed down. Park owners & staff are very nice & helpful! Park doesn't have a lot of amenities but it's still an ok place to stay. They do have WIFI but it wasn't working correctly when we stayed due to lightning... we were advised that we could bring our laptop up to the office porch & get WIFI but that it probably wasn't sending a signal out to the park, however, we were able to pick up the WIFI signal from our RV. Lots of trees, park is quiet & clean.
Nice clean campground. The owner, is a warm, friendly lady who helped me with the RV awning when the wind suddenly whipped up. Campground is near Monument Valley & 4 Corners. Lots to do in the area. RV Park has fishing pond (no license required) & paddle boating is permitted. Very clean & well maintained park. Nice place to stay!
OK campground but it is located near a fairly busy intersection so there is some traffic noise. Staff is friendly & helpful. Main roads are paved but the remainder are gravel. Half of the park appears to be a trailer park, which is separated from the RV part by a chain link fence. Several RV's on the 'RV' side appear to be residents as evidenced by the stationary propane tanks sitting outside their RV's. There are a couple of strategically placed dog runs. Large shade trees, bbq grills & picnic tables are available at each site. Park is clean & provides easy access to highways.
Spacious campground. Friendly staff. RV park offers basketball court, playground, arcade game room with pool table & horseshoes. Pancake breakfasts & ice cream socials are available in season & on holiday weekends. Also, cabins are available as is a laundry room & gift shop. We were passing thru Raton & the campground provided a quiet & satisfactory place to stop & spend the evening.
Beautiful campground! We love to stay at River Ranch. RV Park is nestled up in the mountains, just outside Red River. Campground has river running thru it & also a fishing lake. Fishing license is not required for fishing in the campground lake. The lake is routinely stocked with trout. Tall towering pine trees grow throughout the campground. River Ranch has a laundry room now & a game room. Owners & staff are helpful & very nice. Park even oftens free tokens to ride the town shuttle which makes trips out to River Ranch. Cabins are also available. We will definitely plan to stay there again!
Ugh! Tex's Travel Camp was a disappointment! We had left a wonderful park & arrived at Tex's Travel Camp... what a culture shock! The only remotely redeeming thing about camping here was watching the trains in the distance, being close to beautiful Flaming Gorge & we did make some wonderful new friends who had parked next to us. Other than that, this park is a nightmare! Folks, there are NO amenities & yet they charge $28?! The store in the office is very limited & didn't even carry charcoal. The only trees are on the lower level where the full timers reside. Tex's is located right next to busy Hwy 70 & all you hear day & night is traffic zooming by. The top level where the rest of us park is just rocks & dust...no trees whatsoever. The only grass is the tiny 'pet' area. I don't think this area has seen rain in decades..everything is dry, dusty & windy. Thank goodness for our satellite dish cause our cable connection wasn't working correctly. Tex's states that they have internet connection in the bathrooms, but during our stay we only saw people get frustrated cause they couldn't log on. The phone in the bathroom isn't a pay phone, but it still eats up your phone card minutes excessively. Your cell phone will NOT work in the park; you have to get out on the hwy to use your phone. We saw a couple of RV's slowly pull thru the park, look around & leave. We absolutely were thrilled to leave Tex's Travel Camp & would advise others to continue on down the road unless your just so exhausted that you have to stop at Tex's for the night.
Very nice campground & staff. Park was clean & well managed. Had dependable WiFi. RV park is literally at the end of the road; no traffic noise, at all. Old Hwy 40 dead ends at the base of the damn, where the campsite is located. Provo River is nearby, good fly fishing. Sites are roomy & interior road is paved. We liked this park & would recommend it!
Beautiful, beautiful campground! Family owned & operated. Very nice, efficent & helpful staff. Campground is nestled in the Rocky Mountains, just north of Durango. The 1800's Durango-Silverton Railroad tracks run thru the RV park. Every morning, 2 antique trains pass thru the campground in route to Silverton, returning in the evening to Durango. The train passengers wave at the campers & the campers like to wave back. It is so neat to hear the train whistle & watch the old iron horse chugging thru the campground. The park is also next to the Animas River where we got some trout fishing in. The park offers wonderful amenties, is beautifully maintained, has nice roomy sites & is very quiet! It has become our campground of choice in Durango. We will be back!!!!
