Overall a pleasant weekend here. The campground is older and seemed to be getting updated progressively. The pool area is new and clean and the electrical service is also new and rock solid reliable. The park is tight for bigger rigs and we definitely took up our fair share of room: probably too much room. There is boat docking available but this is one area that is in need of some serious updating. If you have a newer boat, beware. The docks are old and tie ups are flimsy at best. It was a miracle we didn't scratch up the boat. Its more of a fishing than a watersports lake and the docks reflect this. However, the launch ramp was nice and angle was great for easy loading. I'll be back, but the boat will stay home next time. The major attraction to this place, more so than any I've ever been to, was the staff. The owner was just excellent and extremely accommodating. Pretty much anything you need, want or ask, he's there or one of his counterparts are at your service. From parking your trailer, launching your boat or finding a replacement for something you forgot, they're on it and at no extra charge. Extra vehicles on your site? No problem. Extra guests? Not an issue. Check-in, check-out times? Whenever is fine. Just a good overall experience and good people to deal with. A rarity these days.

We stayed at this park for the 4th of July weekend fully expecting it to be over crowded. To our surprise it wasn't and was also much quieter than we expected. We also brought our boat and access to Lake Ontario and the harbor was very good. The site we reserved was lake front, and although it did allow access to the water, it wasn't as good as some of the neighboring sites. Not a big deal but something to note when you're looking at the map and making reservations. In my personal opinion, site H1-H7 are the best in the park. On the negative side, there was a drainage ditch dug out between out sites and the water access which created a definite hazard at night as our fire ring was on the other side of it. We moved it after the first night, against park policy, but I wasn't risking another injury. The boat launch ramp needs some serious overhaul. Granted, I've seen worse, but this is not of the quality you'd expect in a KOA park. Watch out for concrete barriers out of place and the ramp stops short on the dock side creating a definite trailer hazard. Also, watch the ankles around the boat dock access as there are many holes and trip hazards in the bank boulders that create the supposed walkway to the little half-broken bridges. Some complained about the algae smell. It is very obvious when you first come in and I pity anyone that camped on that side of the park. It's nasty at times, and I can't help but think there are solutions available but someone doesn't want the expense. I've heard of some other areas using salt and it worked wonders and its natural and cheap. It seemed this place is capitalizing on its location and ignoring some basic maintenance requirements to give the customer full value for their dollar. All in all, we liked it and will be back: for its location and scenery, not for the value.
