A GREAT park. We only stayed a week but had a wonderful stay. Sites are quite varied. There's a small marina for guests in the park. There's a washing station which was wonderful. We had just come from the Outer Banks and the RV and toad were covered with salt. All paved roads and nice level sites. Will go back on the return trip.
A GREAT park. The entire staff was here for us. We felt the first site was too remote and they were happy to change it for us. They have an orientation every afternoon for new arrivals and answer any questions about the area. There is a local bus that picks up in front of the office to take you to DC. Some tours pick up right at the park. There's a compressor available for tire inflation. There's a restaurant, TV room, laundry and sauna. The roads are paved and varied to make walking or biking a pleasant experience. Very good value for the money.
In my opinion this campground is overpriced for what you get. The park is one of the biggest that I've been in and was overrun with kids. Not just family camping kids, but outside groups of kids who come in for the day. This was my first time here, but it's my understanding from talking to others that Normandy Farms is not the campground that it used to be. They have all the amenities but when it's crowded as it is on the weekends, they don't have the ability to keep up with the crowds. After checkin at the office, I waited 20 minutes in line to get through the entrance to the park. The pools (yes, they have more than 1) were overcrowded and noisy. The bathrooms were barely adequate but not nearly as nice as other parks where I've stayed. Billed as a resort park, I expected much more than I got. Mobility scooters are not allowed inside the park. This was an issue for me as I'm limited in the distance that I can walk. Internet service was not included in their price. If you're going to stay for a day or 2 during the week, it's not so bad. I prepaid a month so I stayed, but I left after my paid time and moved down the road at 25% of what I paid at Normandy Farms. As I see the park, they're in it for the money and ONLY for the money. I know I'll never come back here, and I think that their long built reputation is on its way down.
