This small, convenient park was the most immaculate we've ever seen. As we easily parked on the raked gravel (as in zen-garden raked!), it was easy to understand why there were only 3 available spots. The rest rooms, pool area, laundry and lounge were all in amazing condition. Clean, clean, clean! I'm not a germ-phoebe, but if I was, I'd be super-happy here. Kudos to the management. Nearby is a quiet residential neighborhood for walks and a Carl's Jr.
We wish we could have stayed here longer. The setting and surrounding hiking is beautiful, the staff very helpful, the park is immaculate. Not sure how peaceful it would be in the warmer months when the boaters are using the launch ramp and the lakeside beach is hopping, etc. but in winter it was quiet and wonderful. Olive and lemon trees near our site were full and we were invited to harvest all we wanted from them, a nice bonus. An absolutely great park!
This was a pleasant stay in a charming older park where each site is named. Ours backed up to a rushing creek, the sounds of which made for a good rest. Residents out number transients here and there are a good number of tenting sites. Some may call it "hippie-dippy" but we felt completely welcome and everything seemed well maintained. We'll definitely return here with tenting friends for a week of Shakespeare fest events.
Even though we called ahead and were on time, the owner was curt and generally unpleasant, banging on our door at 11:00 AM to see if we were staying another night. The park is overpriced, isolated and not an easy walk to anywhere, we would not stay there again.
We totally liked the park itself and the friendly, helpful management. Super strong free Wi-Fi signal and a gazillion cable stations. The nearby motels that have been converted to residential are a bit dicey and there is nothing much within walking distance, but this excellent park is a bargain worth the extra couple of miles off I-5.
