We did an overnight here on our way home to IL. The campground was quite wet, but there had been a lot of recent rains. The site was gravel and easy to pull into. The owners were nice. It seemed like a quiet setting. The lots were not very level. They do have a nice pond onsite for fishing for a fee. It was nice for a short stay, but we could not see staying very long.
We arrived late, which was not an issue. It was a tad difficult to find the entrance, but not too bad. The place was very nice and clean. We would like to stay longer sometime in the future. The staff was very nice and helpful on the phone.
We stayed for a week last December. The place was largely vacant. It was nice, clean, and had friendly staff. There is no better location with proximity to The Strip. You would be hard pressed to find a cheaper hotel to stay at so close. The entire place is a blacktop parking lot. We do not think it would be very much fun to stay in during the summer, but if you are living in an RV and want to go to Vegas regardless of time of year, this is the place.
We spent most of last winter here. It was excellent in almost every aspect. The staff are wonderful and helpful. The weather is amazing in the winter. The sites are sand/gravel, very generously sized, and largely level. There can be some problems with standing or running water during rain. That said, last winter was record wet there, we were told. The wifi is spotty and can be slow due to so many users. We were told it has been upgraded this year. We loved that it is nonprofit-all monies collected get put back into the park. It is beautiful! The weekends can get very busy with families, ie: lots of children. Many people have dogs. The location is very convenient to San Diego and the entire area. We loved our stay and cannot wait to visit again!
We actually stayed here for several months in 2010, but forgot to write a review. The managers are a bit odd and particular, but as long as you follow the rules, they are very nice. The "many" rules are not so many, nor as ridiculous as some have said. The posts about being turned away if you arrive late are correct. We were cutting it close and called to notify them and were told we had to be there by the office closing time (7, I think), no exceptions. We all know how things go wrong when you travel. If you don't make it early enough, there are no alternatives. There is no Wal-Mart to stay in the lot. There are a couple of nearby supermarkets, but I doubt you could sleep there. They do have a good reason for no late arrivals, but we believe their strict adherence is ridiculous. The park is nice and clean. There are many long term residents who largely were very nice. The weather is nice. The nearby beach is great. You can hear the waves from your RV. Our monthly rate was $900, cash only for monthly. Dogs are accepted. Aside from peculiarities, it is nice. We would definitely return. Any other remotely close park on the peninsula was not nearly as nice.
