New RV park! Very nice, large and wide spaced sites. The monthly rate is $200 plus electric. Each site has its own Direct TV dish. You only pay a $70 deposit for the receiver. You get that back . WI-FI is great. The couple who run the park live next to the park and are very helpful. Nice, quiet, clean park. Lots of room to walk the dogs. No restrooms yet, but they are building showers, laundry, and clubhouse facilities. I highly recommend this park. We stayed 2 months and will be back next year.
Nightly rate reflects monthly rate of $400. The nicest thing about this park is the monthly rate includes electricity. The park is very large. This is a gated community, however the gates are kind of random. There are also rental house and mobile homes here. It was quiet. Most of the people staying here are long term. The Wi-Fi is iffy. Sometimes it works great, and other times there is no service. There is no cable TV, however, you can get 5 or 6 local channels. It is pet friendly. Nice place to stay close to Galveston and Houston.
Very nice park outside of Dallas off of Interstate 20. There are a lot of long term residents. The sites are gravel. This is the only reason I gave them a 9 instead of a 10. They have a fenced dog park with water provided for the dogs. Everyone was very friendly. Cable and WI-FI was great. No problems at all. We will stay here again.
We stayed at the Sandpiper for 10 days including the Thanksgiving holiday. The rate reflects a Good Sam discount. When we arrived, there was a group of about 15 motorhomes from Canada. When they left, we had the place almost to ourselves for a few days. The park is the old Sandpiper Hotel that was destroyed in Hurricane Ike. There are still a few hotel rooms left. The pool and hot tub area are beautiful. They also had a fire pit going in the evening. The sites are concrete and the cable and internet were great. The park is directly behind the Stewart Beach recreation area, which could be a problem in the summer months as it can be very crowded and noisy. But at this time of the year, it was great. You can see the gulf from most of the spots in the park. Beware that there are two areas: one is at the top and next to Seawall Blvd which is very busy, the other is in a gated area one level down and closer to the beach. Ask for a site in the lower area. Limited areas inside the park to walk dogs and there are many sand burrs outside the park. If you go out the back gate, turn left and walk down about a block, there is an overflow parking lot for Stewart Beach that is kept mowed and free of burrs. We could let our dogs run there safely. It is a great park and we will be back.
Good value for the money in SPI. As this is a popular tourist area, hotels are $100 plus a night. The park is in an excellent location on the Laguna Madre Bay. There are a few waterfront sites available. There is also a very good seafood restaurant next to the property. There is no shade, and this can be an issue in the summer. The dog walk area is very small. We walked the dogs along the bay from a parking lot next door. All in all, it is a nice park. I would return.
NOTE: Try to arrive in the daylight or at least during office hours. We had a very difficult time finding our spot after dark. My favorite thing about this park is the dog park. When I made my reservation, they asked about pets. Since I have 3 dogs they put us in a great pull-through spot near the dog park. The area for dogs was a large, shaded fenced in area with a bench. We were able to take our dogs and let they play as we sat in the shade and watched them. The park is very clean and shaded. The roads are narrow and hilly. We were in a 30 footer and didn't have too much trouble, but a larger rig might have problems. Overall, a great park that I would return to.
