Lovely location half way up a very steep hill in the rolling countryside. This park is located in the middle of farm country so if you do not appreciate farm smells, sights and sounds, then this place is not for you. Quietest park we have ever stayed in, probably due to its "adults only" nature. Sites were very level but small and tight to maneuver in. Not all were large enough to have a fire ring. Overall, very well maintained and clean with friendly, helpful owners. The principal attraction is the nearby (1/2 mile) Village of Intercourse and associated Amish/Mennonite related shops, farms and lifestyle. This park is an excellent base location for a Lancaster County stay. Most folks we met in the park were there as tourists during the day returning to the park to relax in the evenings. This was especially nice since most shops in the Intercourse area close around 5:30 p.m. while many restaurants close by 8:00 p.m. We will return to the area and this park in the future.

This was our first time at this park. This area is very rural and the directions in our campground directory left something to be desired. However, a cell phone call to the camp office resulted in excellent directions. The park roads are a type of packed sandy soil (as is most of south Jersey) and are graded daily. The entire park is very wooded and some sites, as well as some interior roads can be tight to maneuver in We found the staff to be extremely courteous, solicitous, and numerous. A number of the facilities appear to be recently constructed and are of a good quality. The park was fairly empty and very quiet during the week but filled up for the weekend. Even so, noise and traffic were not out of the ordinary. We learned that the current owners have removed a large number of seasonal sites, with only a few left, and the result is a very clean, attractive destination park. Wildlife are numerous in the area and we had a flock of some 23 wild turkeys outside our window as we ate supper one evening. We would visit this park again.

My wife and I have visited this park for the past four years. The staff is friendly, and unobtrusive. We find the park a good place for a late summer getaway. The spacious sites were clean with picnic tables, fire rings and convenient full hookups. At night the rotating beam of light from the nearby Assasteague Island Lighthouse is something to see. We typically visit during the week before Labor Day and find the park very quiet since most folks with children are either back home with the kids in their first week of school or preparing for the start of school. Chincoteague remains a quaint town and the park provides a good base from which to visit the local shops, rent a small boat and fish the many tidal creeks and sounds or to spend time across the channel at Assateague National Seashore. Mosquitos are a challenge but this should be expected since you are on a barrier island surrounded by massive amounts of tidal marshes. The rest rooms are old but the staff makes a consistent effort to keep them clean. The park is on a prime site for condominium development so each year we hear rumors of an impending change. We will continue to return as long as the park is there.
