CG run by Hardee County Parks & Rec Dept. Large open area for large rigs and a wooded area for under 30" rigs. Museum and small zoo in park. Pond with gators, 3 shower/restroom, BBQ, dump site, shopping close by. Verizon friendly, happy, helpful staff, bonfires allowed, been here 2X and will return. Rate reflects weekly rate, trust the internet site.
Very clean, well maintained & managed CG. Friendly residents and staff. Verizon friendly, 10 minutes to shopping, activities for everyone, would be great for all winter, quiet. Wi-Fi was good, bike friendly, lots of hot water and spotless showers and laundry. We'll be back and would consider extended stay, would have given it a 10 had it had cable & pool. Very worth the price which is based on weekly cost, trust their web site.
Out in the boondocks..very quiet and dark..site #2 is too small for anything..only 2 cement pads for handicap. Most sites are well kept, fire pits, 1/2hr to minimal shopping, beautiful, and tall treed location. Tough but not impossible for satellite. Verizon phone and Wi-Fi had strong signals. Several TV stations via rabbit ears. Camp is on highest point in Florida. Great hiking. Gregory House tour inside park.. Would come back and recommend.
Owner checked us in. Made a lot of excuses why things don't work. She said she'd like to be a monthly only park. 7 channels on cable TV. Verizon worked well. Not much in the area. Had clean laundry and restrooms. This was good for a limited stay. It's about 1/2 mile to water.
Stayed 1 night at Passport America rate. It has about 5 transient sites out in front on grass that are OK for overnight. The place is very old, but the owner is nice. Signage is non-existent, and it is not big rig friendly.
Easy access from I-83. Quiet and clean. Great heated showers, indoor pool and hot tub. Knowledgable staff. Very friendly park. 15 minutes to shopping malls. La Feria is just a quick bike ride away. American Legion is .7 mile south and open to the public. Some shade. Verizon phone, internet and Dish TV worked very well. Great mixture of winter Texans from all over the USA and Canada. Secure park with a closed gate at night. 55+ park. Will put on our "return to" list. Web site is very accurate.
Rate reflects Texas State Park Pass ($60).Good deal if staying at a State Park more than 6X a year. Park is clean and quite nice. Good Verizon signals and great for walking or biking. It's everything they advertise as most Texas Parks are. Plus free fishing, no license required, at any Texas State Park.
Had a hard time finding this park: the website and P.A. directions were wrong. Used Google Address Search to zero into it. Pool was closed. Called in A.M., no call back twice. It was full when we arrived at 2PM so we went to the nearby State Park. No signs to lead into park and the owner "knows" a few signs are missing! Soooo we can't say much about it, only filled in blanks to post here.
As advertised. Clean everything. 20 minutes to Lake Charles, shopping. Good spot for touring Creole Nature Trail. Large pond on site. Very nice community center. Would be good for rallies. Verizon phone and internet signals 5 bars..regular TV antenna 7 channels. Good for satellite reception too. Would definitely stay at again.
We used Passport America discount. Older park, needed grass cut, small sites, friendly people, new bathrooms, showers and laundry. Nice pub within walking distance.(Culpeppers). Would really question ability to handle large rigs. OK for short stays. PA site says fire rings, none seen.
Owned by originator of Passport America. Very clean and well kept. Private ponds for fishing.Very friendly staff. Great community bonfire pit stocked with wood. Park is known to flood during rainy season. Relaxing atmosphere in the woods. Good selection of satellite sites. Highly recommend.
Nice, clean, peaceful campground. Owners were friendly. We were here during a drought so ponds were very low. Stayed an extra week and did some work camping for the owners. Paid for 1st week $110. If rate on P.A. site had been correctly quoted at $11 per night it should have been $77 for the week. (No 4 day limit on site either.) We notified P.A. , and they corrected. Always call ahead. Pool is drained for maintenance(10-25-10). Would recommend very highly.
Lady in office was very nice. Bathrooms, showers and laundry were spotless. Lots of cable TV channels. WiFi near office (secured). Our Verizon WiFi and phones worked extremely well. Located close to town and walking distance to a 24 hour Texaco Station convenience center. Semi dry county (no liquor). All paved lots and very level. Great for a break 2 or 3 days. Would definitely recommend.
Very windy road, uphill, to enter park. No office sign, has a rundown ranger residence (broken furniture in front and no railings on poor man's porch). No answer at door even though a car is parked outside and screen door locked from inside. Lack of signs to enter park properly. Most sites back in and VERY UN-LEVEL Nice woodsy setting with 2 sites good for satellite. Hot water "temporarily not working". Laundry consists of 1 washer and dryer and they are filthy. Bathhouse is nasty too. Our Wi-Fi and cell phones worked OK (VERIZON). Only 28 standard campsites.
We were hesitant about this park due to previous comments re: bad entrance road but found it not too bad at all. Getting thru Memphis from N to S was tricky but doable. Park host was very friendly. Our Verizon wireless was weak but usable. Watch another camper 'search' for a site for his satellite signal (heavy trees). Very clean everything, lots of hot water and great spray heads. Please note our rating.Close to everything Memphis has to offer.
