It's been two years since we camped here, but am glad we gave the new owners a chance. We opted to stay in the water and electric sites which are located in the grassy area of the campground. The new owners were very friendly and offered a "campers appreciation" breakfast on Saturday morning. Our kids enjoyed the pool and the jumping pillow along with walks to the on site pond. We were surprised that we received the wireless internet at our site considering how far away we were from the office. The NC Zoo is also only 10 minutes from this campground which was our primary reason for visiting. We plan on visiting again soon.
It's hard to believe this campground has only been around a year. It is truly an excellent place with great owners who care about your camping experience. The campground itself is broken into 4 sections. Section A has a paved road and several pull through sites. These sites are mostly shaded. Section B are all back-in sites and shaded, but the road is gravel (for now). Section C is all pull through, but gravel and mostly not shaded. The last section is for tents and is shaded. The campground has a very nice pool and bathhouse for guests. Overall, the campground was very clean and although it is very close to the highway, I never could hear any traffic. Wireless service only appears to work in the C section although they have plans to expand the coverage. Cable TV offered about 70 channels and worked well. They also had a playground for the kids. We really enjoyed our stay here and plan to camp here again several time this year.
We stayed in site #18 which had a small tree for shade. The site was a nice long pull through as are most sites in the campground. Plenty of grass for our screened 10 x 10 room. The pool was clean and very needed in the hot weather. We also noticed a lot of ants (small ones) and the bugs were very bad (probably due to a lot of recent rains). The WiFi worked well at our site. The staff at this campground is top notch and they went out of their way to accommodate us in a cabin when we had trouble with our motor home. We would definitely recommend this campground and will stay again if we are in the Charleston area.
We were a little concerned when we first pulled into the entrance as the roads were dirt and it had rained. But it was not problem as the road was solid and the campground road was nice enough to navigate to our site. We had one of the two pull through sites and had no problem getting level. The best site for large motor homes is number 3, but many of the sites on the water are also nice although smaller. There is a small playground which is on the other side of the lake, but a nice walk. Other than that there isn't much to do in the area, but enjoy nature and relax. We were able to get several digital tv stations over the air. We plan on camping here again.
The owners were very friendly and came out to meet our dogs after check-in. They showed us to our site and were readily available to assist us. The cable service was a little weak, but you were still able to get the major channels. The Wi-Fi service worked well. Most of the campers, if not all, had dogs which was good for conversation and there is plenty to do with your dogs since there are several dog play areas. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay and would plan on returning again.
My camped here in a fifth wheel and were located towards the back of the park which meant we had more sun on our site. I would definitely recommend staying closer to the pool area which are mostly shaded. As for the golf carts, it was a little crazy, but wouldn't keep me from coming here again. The campground definitely cleared out on Sunday as most people were there for the weekend. Although we didn't use the pools (two of them), we did use the lake which was enjoyable. We have two dogs and they have a separate place where you can allow your dogs to swim. As previously state, all of the water view sites are occupied by permanent campers. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay and plan to return again in the fall.
