We were thrilled with the place! Apparently there has been lots of recent improvements-the place looks great. There is a HUGE playground for the dogs. The site was so level we didn't bother with the jacks. We stayed here overnight and will be making this a permanent stop on our FL to CT route! Easy on and easy off!
Not a bad place for an overnight stay, but I wouldn't stay here for any longer than that. The truck stop right next door drowns out any possible wildlife noises. The sites are TINY. Thank God we had no one next to us or we'd hear them snoring. The place is in desperate need of a face lift. No problems with the staff. He was actually quite nice. Not what we expected from the previous reviews.
Loved the clean showers! One section to change clothes, and another for the shower itself. Lots of room to place your clothes and toiletries. The camp had some super-long sites, with a fair amount of space between them. We had an additional truck w/boat trailer. They charged $15 for the added space we took up, which was a bit surprising considering all the empty sites. Not an easy place to get into-the entrance is in the middle of a hairpin curve. A little unnerving! We just stayed overnight, but will probably stop here again.
Great place to camp with dogs. They have a great spot to walk them, and they supply waste bags. The lots were a bit small. We had an additional truck with a boat trailer. They were very accommodating, and allowed us to park it within eyesight of our site. Some noise from the highway. Overall, it was a nice spot for an overnight stop. Wi-Fi was available, but you had to pay extra for it.
We chose one of the premium sites. The park is spotless! The restrooms are individual rooms with both shower & toilets. Again, they are spotless! I would have given this park a 10 if the grill offered at my site worked. They offered to bring another one over, so the service here is wonderful. Great dog run, too.
Our family has been camping here for 4 generations! It's the best boondocking around. The sites here are enormous. The only complaint is not being allowed to bring pets. With the size of this place, the State of CT could certainly section off an area for "families with pets only". They just built some camping cabins, but failed to properly vent them, so plan on boiling in there! Best "stay-cation" in CT for families with children.
We stayed here for over 2 months, and enjoyed every minute of it. If you're looking for a place to relax and unwind, this is it! Since we don't have children, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the pool without being splashed or hearing kids screaming. It definitely caters to an older crowd, and there are many full-time residents here. Some of them are friendlier than others, but overall it was a very pleasant vacation. We enjoyed watching the eagles overhead and long bike rides along the wonderful paths.
The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. They escorted us to our site, and once there, decided to give us the next site so we would have more room for our dogs! They stayed until we were all set up, and were very friendly. The campground was very clean, with garbage cans available all over the grounds. The other campers were also very friendly. It was only an overnight stay for us, but we plan on returning just because our stay was so good!
