The park is located in a huge field with corn fields surrounding it. You can hear cows mooing at night. Pretty dang cool. Everything was just fine - no problems - until there was a heavy rain. We, and many others, had to be towed by a tractor. Just be aware. This is true in any campground that doesn't have solid cement/tar/gravel/etc. to park on. Yup, I'll go there again!
It is a beautiful park: shady, level sites. We were impressed. A bit soggy after a heavy rain. Everything was great except the WiFi wasn't working. Dang!!!! We needed it for my husband's job. We will return and hope the WiFi works.
Heavenly place to stay. Water views, forest views from the water. Great place to canoe or kayak. We noticed one bathroom is being revamped. Shower water was warm, definitely not hot!!! Hey, who cares, the place is outstanding in every way.
What a spot on the river!!!! Watching the barges with a view of the bridge at night with a huge campfire was a great way to end our 3.5 month southern trip. The town is so full of history and incredible architecture, outstanding!!! Of course, we'd like cable TV and Wi-Fi, but the aesthetics blew us away and we didn't need the techy stuff. We'll stop here every year on our way back to MI.
We were here March 25, 2010, and used our Passport America. We couldn't stay on the stream, dang!!! The bathrooms were closed til April 1 and I felt that we should have gotten a better rate. However, the Wi-Fi and cable TV were excellent. After staying at a primitive campground, Elkmont, we were ready for a little extra techy stuff. Nice owners, very helpful, and a very nice little campground.
The worst campground I've ever stayed at! Dog messes in my campsite. Loose dogs and kids harassed my dogs and myself. They constantly visited my campsite and bothered us. Paid for Wi-Fi and it wouldn't work and they wouldn't give me my money back. Red soil ended up on carpet inside the RV (not the owners' fault). Noisy! Yuck!! Just an awful experience!
One of my favorite SP in the country!!! It has space between each site and has birds and trails and deer and It has everything that I really need. It is not far from Sopchoppy which has the best restaurant ever!!! Who would think there would be a "gourmet" (almost) restaurant in such a little town. Backwoods Bistro - get the Parmesan chicken and feed yourself for two days. I think he even makes his own pasta. Mmm
First class!!!! The free shuttle to the French Quarter made it well worth the price. We used Passport America for 2 nights and had a site right on the water. Clean, roomy sites, excellent service!!! They even have a bar and pizza. We were in heaven!!!! This was our second visit and we're ready to return - TODAY!!!
Bathrooms were dark, slippery, and dirty. Pull a string - that I could barely reach - to turn on light in the shower. The owner spent as little money as possible to keep the place up. This is understandable because of hurricane damage, but not pleasant to live with. We had 3 days of rain and became stuck and had to call a wrecker to pull us out. However it is 2 blocks from the beach and the shipping canal which was very enjoyable.
