Camped here over July 4th great view of the fireworks from the waters edge. Staff was very helpful and part of the events, selling glow sticks to kids. This was our first time to Mackinaw and we did get lost trying to find our site, all the roads can be confusing but by the second day we had it all worked out. The beach was nice as was the pool but it was a little small for the size of the CG, you could just about walk over the water with the amount of bodies in the pool. Gravel roads but a water truck came by daily to keep the dust down, sites are large and private from your neighbor. We found only one dumpster in the entire park and that's all the way out by the entrance, over the holiday week it was overflowing with trash. They could have a few more around the park. I would stay here again.
Very nice park. Dirt/gravel roads make for a little dust but nothing to complain about. I was quite surprised on how quite it was, this was my first time to Silver Lake and I expected to hear loud engines from the ORV vehicles all day but that never happened. The pool was nice but to small for the amount of people using. We used the laundry room, they need a lot more machines, only 4 washers and dryers, we had to wait and wait for them to open up, our family alone took all 4 machines. Office staff was helpful but lacked any knowledge about park activities over the July 4th week. The Facebook page spoke of all kids of events planned, movies, bike/golf cart parade etc yet nobody on staff knew anything about them. We came home from dinner and sure enough we had missed the events that the staff knew nothing about, my kids were upset. I would stay here again.
We booked our site 6 months in advance and told the women on the phone the size of our fifth wheel, 36 feet. When we arrived they had us in a site between to 20 year old campers that people lived in year round. The site was so tight I could not make the turn, beyond that the site itself was only 30 feet long meaning 6 feet of my camper was in the road. The staff finally found me a bigger site but that to was in the "trashy section" both neighbors live year round and had loud drinking parties every night we stayed. We used this CG as a base to take the train to Chicago every day so we were only there late evening to early mornings. My son's wanted to play ping pong in the game room when we first arrived but they wanted to charge $2.00 to rent the paddle and ball. I was disappointed in the site we got even when we booked over 6 months in advance. This was the most expensive place I stayed on my 3 week summer trip through Indian and Michigan and was by far the worst.
Easy access off I-70 but a busy exit with gas, Wal-Mart and restaurants. Check in went smoothly, escorted to sites which like the roads were gravel. The grass had some mud as it had been raining, pool was small but worked for us. Some sites looked liked people lived here. Great price for an overnight stop.
Awesome GC with a beautiful view of the city below and the mountains above. The sites are level with concrete and gravel pads for tents and picnic tables. This was a great location for all our day trips, south to Royal Gorge North to Pikes Peek. Only complaint once you arrive you have to buy a $7 per day car pass that's not mentioned when you make your reservation online.
Great overnight campground, after a 12 hour day we were greeted by the nicest staff. Sites are level pull through. The kids loved the playground and putt putt golf on site. Us adults loved the hot tubs.
Clean park easily accessible from the interstate we stayed one night on our way to Colorado. Check in was easy, girls behind the counter were more then helpful to answer our questions. You can call security from the office, they will pick you up and drive you to the casino or the Metrolink station. Speaking of, the Metrolink station is at the CG we rode it all over St Louis. Others complained of train noises, we heard nothing of the sort during our visit the AC running must had canceled it out. We liked it some much we are returning this weekend.
Very clean, staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that we made a reservation 2 months prior and were placed right beside 2 other campers who also booked sites weeks in advance, while that doesn't seem bad, we were the only three campers on the entire road that had 15 other empty spots the entire week we stayed, we could at least have had some distance between us. Luckily we made friends with the other 2 campers and had a good time.
Big improvement from this time last year, although last year's visit was good this year was even better, more blacktopped roads, new playground, life sized chess game and putt putt golf for the kids at heart. Entry had been redone and landscaped to look more inviting, the office staff was a big help, while 3 other campers were in front of us they took the time to make all of us feel welcome while we waited in line.
I have stayed here many times but this by far was the most unpleasant, arriving at site we found dog waste all around the picnic table and patio. I cleaned it up and overlooked the issue until an employee came by in a golf cart at 7:45 AM on Sunday while I sat outside enjoying the morning. She quickly realized I was outside and skidded to a stop, backed up and approached me, asking if anyone contacted me the night before. I answered no, she explained to me that because I was staying from March 30th - April 1st that they failed to charge the the peak season rate for the one night of April 1st, she rudely said that I needed to come to the office to set there books right and I owe $8.00 more for their mistake. I said "OK later I would." Then she asked me if I had $8.00 on me at that moment. First, I didn't as I was still in my morning shorts and T shirt, and second, why would I hand $8.00 to just any employee, how I would know that she wouldn't just pocket the money? I feel its the CG's mistake they should fix it. I left with no further contact and no payment of the $8.00.
Very nice and kid friendly, we have 2 kids under 4 and they both a had a blast, the CG is very quite even with all the kids. No golf carts allowed which mad my stay that much better/safer. I will stay at this CG again in the future.
Camped with wife and two children under the age of four, the staff was friendly and helpful, swimming pool was clean and the kids loved it, very close to all the attractions on our list. Next to Camping World which I have been banned from for life by my family. Over $10.00 per night cheaper than the other campgrounds on the same road, Only gripe no cable TV for such a large city in Tennessee. I would stay at this CG again
