I'm not a big fan of Ruby's. The location and convenient shuttle into the National Park are great, but the sites are packed into a helter-skelter arrangement very, very close together. The location of the park makes it very popular, i.e. very crowded. Staff was nice, and a very good restaurant was within walking distance. Just not my cup of tea.
Great place to stay. Very friendly staff. Lots of overnighters due to it's location close to the interstate. Very clean, pretty park. Wi-Fi works good, cable TV works good. Sites are level concrete with stable power. This is THE place to stay if you are visiting the Mountain Home area.
We were very satisfied with camping at Watchman. Very private sites, fairly level. Be sure to fill your water tank on the way in. At the time of our visit, the road from the tunnel to the Visitor's Center was horrible (10 mph max)! I expect that within a few weeks, re-paving will fix that. The tunnel itself was a fun experience.
