We picked this park for the proximity to Mustang Island for the birding. We were very pleased with the park and all its facilities. We had one of the deluxe sites, we parked on concrete, had a patio, picnic table and BBQ grill. We didn't go in the pool, but it looked nice. The laundry was quite big with carts to transfer your clothes. The ladies in the office were very friendly and helpful, each and every time I approached with another question. There is an HEB grocery store just down the street and WalMart is less than a mile away. We will definitely be returning here again when we return next fall.
We stayed here on our way north from the Rio Grande Valley. We were only planning on staying overnight, but severe weather forced us to stay an extra day. The sites are big enough to accommodate all the big rigs. Some are wider than others. We could leave the car connected. The site was plenty long enough. All the hookups, including WiFi and cable, are included in the price. 2 small laundry rooms and bathhouses, one at each end of the park. We received a 10% discount for AAA or Good Sam. We will be spreading the word to our friends that this is a good spot to stop. Easy on/off from US 77/79 intersection.
We stayed here 2 nights using our Passport America card, and were very pleased with the site and the friendly service provided by the host. I agree with all the previous comments listed below, except for one in June 2011 that rated the park only 4/10. What this person states about early arrival charges is absolutely untrue. The host does not charge anything for early arrivals. If he has a site available he will let you go ahead and park and set up. This person must have been thinking of another park, not Benchmark. We will definitely stay here if it is on our route to a destination. And we will spread the word to other campers that we meet.
A beautiful campground, every site has a view of the lake. It is aptly named, ospreys fly over almost daily and sometimes swoop down to catch a fish. We feel as if we are in a 5* Caribbean resort!! There are huge RV sites with a concrete pad 75' x 16'. Very peaceful and relaxing, be it at our site, or in the beautiful clubhouse, or out by the pool and hot tub. At night, the palm trees are lit as is the clubhouse, we had to take a nightly stroll, enjoying the ambience, accompanied by the whistling frogs. Shopping is 10 miles away in Foley or 15 miles away in Pensacola. Lots to see and do in the area. We have been here for 6 weeks (Feb 14 to Mar 29) and are very sorry to leave. We will be back!!
This was the second time we stayed at this park. Both times were only overnight. Staff are friendly, sites are tight but adequate. We felt that the local campers were treated a bit more nicer than the travellers just passing through. We will stay here again, hopefully a bit longer next time, to enjoy more of the facilities.
The previous reviewer chose the wrong name, there is another park called Montgomery RV Park which is run down. This park Montgomery South RV Park is only 1 and 1/2 years old. It has 23 pull through sites with 50, 30 and 20 amp connections, water, sewer, free Wi Fi and even satellite. The restroom is huge and very clean, as are the laundry facilities. Very friendly owner in the office greeted us like new friends, we were shown personally to our site, and asked if we needed anything, call the number (his own house number) and he would come back to assist where needed. We were only here overnight, but will spread the word, this is a lovely park to stay in!!
