Incredible park. We recommend the Far View Explorer tour which leaves from the campground. Very informative. The campground itself is the most expensive and the least impressive of all national park campgrounds we've stayed in. The small section with hookups was full, but the rest of this very large campground was pretty much empty. The laundry and showers were a mile away from where we dry camped, so we had to drive there. They were clean and the showers were free. The folks at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. We would have stayed longer had the campground been worth staying in.
We stayed in Moraine campground one night and Glacier Basin Campground 3 nights. Moraine is all reservations, but we got a site that had a cancellation. The shade trees here were good. Glacier is half reservation sites, which had very little shade as many trees were removed due to pine beetle infestation. We stayed in a first-come, first-serve site which was nicely shaded in Loop A. Elk wandered around in the campground. Hosts were friendly and on top of things. We plan to return.
The Wi-Fi was intermittent and we were told by a gal at the front desk that strong winds knocked it out a few days before and it had been a problem since. Then another host told me that there was nothing wrong and that it was me (it was not). The 30 and 50 amp electric was VERY low voltage (<100V) and a camp host said that it must be my rig (it wasn't - 20 amp was fine and hookups elsewhere have been fine), but said he would send someone up to check it. A while later, no one had appeared and we went out on a day trip. A new neighbor was setting up next to us as we were leaving. When we came back later that day, no one had ever checked our electric and the new neighbor had left for good. I can only imagine he had the same problem with the electric. We should have left as well. Bathrooms and laundry were clean, but for the price, I expect the electric and Wi-Fi to work properly and the hosts to not be so flippant. Worst place I've ever stayed in over a year of full-timing.
Stayed here 3 nights. Good place to get out of the heat since it's above 8000 ft elevation. Reservations needed on weekends in summer. Host was friendly, helpful and on top of things. No hookups, but many water spigots throughout the campground. Didn't check the rest rooms. Very peaceful, especially during the week. We'd stay here again.
