I read all the reviews before booking and was glad I decided to choose this park. Huge park with excellent private beach - August is busy park but the beach had plenty of room for everyone. We rented a golf cart - I would have given this park a higher rating if they had charged less for a golf cart. We paid about 55 per day to use the golf cart but could rent a car in town for about 42. The golf carts are old don't hold a charge very well and have been paid for years ago - 55 per day is just too high. Everything else was fair priced - the store and gift shop had appropriate prices as did the laundry. Wished the laundry room was open later - was always busy and closed at 10pm. Not really sure why cause no noise would have upset campers - not near any sites. Suggestions for this park would be more dog walking areas (they only have one and its in a more residential area). The campground is huge and a good mix of campers - too huge for personalized service from the owners - but all staff we found to be kind. Now for the golf carts - they were not out of control as I had read - everything was fine with them. I have a 16 yr old that was driving with my family and we got stopped and asked about how old she was (and yes they need to be licensed) - yet we saw many younger kids (14 or so) driving around alone and they weren't stopped. No big deal but this "patrol" was a little ridiculous. If camping here - bring things to decorate your golf carts - its a hoot. We didn't know that - but people really deck them out - battery operated lights, signs, inflatable floats, etc. Have fun with it - there is an impromptu parade each evening at dusk by the dunes. Sites back by the dunes are definitely prone to more traffic and noise - truly the distance to the beach probably wasn't worth that. We stayed a bit more inland and was no big deal since we had the golf cart. Our site was very large - but there are sites that have trees very close and some motorhomes would have problems with slide outs. You aren't able to reserve a certain site but I would definitely tell them what you would like when you reserve. To have gotten a 10 I would suggest - more appropriate golf cart pricing, more trash cans around the sites - more appropriate patrolling. We had a great time. Storms come up rather quick here so I would suggest always tiering down your awning. Fun time if you don't mind crowds.
Wonderful campground - very nice camping spots most with shade and plenty of room between you and your neighbors. Only 2 pull thru spots and only one is reservable - will definitely return. Would have given this a 10 if it had full hookups. Camp host was great. Nice walking trail available also. No outside traffic noises except the rare train can be heard. Wonderful family atmosphere.
This park seems best for the older couple passing through and not necessarily a family campground. While the pool was open and mostly clean: it was salt water! The owner called it a saline pool but either way its salt water so the kids hated how it tasted. The miniature golf was kind of a joke: very old and run down. The old west town was a paint job on buildings. The park itself is very small with barely any room in between sites. The camp map shows trails: but there weren't any. It also showed a pavilion that was actually a very old wooden structure that was half falling down. I would not return here.
