The only problems with this RV park: 1. The park is not in Carlsbad NM. It is 18 miles north of Carlsbad NM. 2. The park is 39 miles from Carlsbad Caverns. The following is the e-mail I sent to KOA. "Your web site gave the location as 16.91 miles from Carlsbad. This didn't sound too bad, but I was thinking that the campground was that far away from Carlsbad Caverns. The actual distance from the campground to the city of Carlsbad is actually 18 miles or a round trip of 36 miles every time we went to the city of Carlsbad to do any sightseeing. That equates to $7.00 worth of gas spent every time we went to town. We were in the area three days and planned our trips to sight see to minimize the trips to town. The distance to Carlsbad Caverns from the campground is 39 miles. Our next stop on our trip was Gallup NM. Thus we had to make a round trip of 78 miles to go to Carlsbad Caverns and backtrack past the campground to head north on Highway 285 to go to I-40 and go on to Gallup. We burned an additional $25.00 for gasoline. Since we paid $66.00 a night for the Kabin, we could have gone to a motel and it would have cost us less and we would have been closer to the Caverns and other places of interest in Carlsbad. If you are going to call this Carlsbad KOA, you should clearly warn people how far away they are staying from the major attraction in the area."
Woman's showers were in poor repair. One stall was heavily molded and one was stopped up and overflowing. That left only one usable shower. A male maintenance worker entered the restroom while my wife was showering and asked if the shower stall she was in was working OK.
