Called here asking about Wi-Fi after discovering that another park's Wi-Fi did not work. Attendant said yes, they had Wi-Fi! Sure enough, they did. Trouble is, the system is overtaxed to the point where it is impossible to get a lease from the wireless router on either of the nets. They are both unsecured and likely tapped to exhaustion by neighbors. I have a slingbox satellite receiver at home and it allows me to watch my own TV while on the road, provided the Wi-Fi is good; this one wasn't. BUT, other than that. This park is fairly new, no mature trees to speak of for shade, but all of the hookups were fine and in good repair and the desk attendant was friendly. Basically, the substandard internet service was the only detraction.
This park is actually an old Route 66 motor court on the main drag of Tucumcari. They have opened up the back with full hookup RV spaces that seem like they have been there for quite awhile. No concrete pads, everything is dirt/gravel, but they seemed pretty level. Anyway, although the place was old and dumpy, the showers, though very cramped and small, were quite clean, and the Wi-Fi was absolutely great, no problems at all. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I will definitely choose the Kiva again when on I-40 in Eastern NM.
I called the park asking if they had wifi. The old guy on the phone said yes, in some spots. So I said, well, do you have a spot open where the wifi works? He told me he did, so I said I would take it. I was there in about 20 minutes, paid, hooked up water and electric, popped out the slide-out and sure enough, no wifi. The signal was far too weak. I would call bait and switch, but I am not sure the old geezer really understands the system in the park, himself. Anyway, do not count on getting wifi here. Otherwise, park was okay, for a no frills gravel sort of arrangement. I will not return, however.
