I always favor State Parks and will do so when possible, however due to the proximity of this KOA to the City of Charleston we elected to stay there. The front counter ladies were very pleasant and helpful with directions, suggestions etc. and even let us pick our site out of the open ones. The grounds were nice neat and clean, the two guys on the golf carts kept busy. We even enjoyed the heated pool in a bubble! (large inflated cover over the pool) The park had nice grounds and a very large lake. It is right off the main road but back enough that you do not hear the traffic etc. and the grounds make it seem that you are not in the city. I did not feel like I was in a parking lot. I was impressed all the way around with the VALUE of the stay. Would stay there again. Also the Wi-Fi was really fast! Good Job all the way around! Who ever is running this park is doing a good job!

The biggest detractor of this park is that there are no reservations. Hence you have to play the "wait and see" game to see if you will get electrical hook up at the limited number of sites. The good news is that if you do not get a site, you can move the next day. Getting level is a challenge but that standard in this part of the country where they have mountains! There is no water at the sites but there is water available next to the dump station. Other than that the campground is beautiful. Nice big sites, spaced apart. Nice hiking trails nearby. Beautiful scenery. All the facilities are new/clean/neat. Would definitely stay again. Check the web site as they will be closing Nov. 1st 2011 for renovations until May 15th.

Great State Park. It is very close to I-75 but far away enough to still feel like you are camping. The lake is near by with fishing and some swimming if you like. Great place we use when we are leaving Florida and heading north or returning. Stayed here 4 times and it has been great each time

For a national park campground, it was surprisingly nice. We stayed on a weekday and it was empty. While limited on the number of sites with water and electricity for hook up, we were able to find one without a problem, and it was level, too! The campground was nice and bathrooms were small but clean enough. The trees and forest were amazing. The dump station was easy in/out for a larger motorhome. Definitely a great place to say. Stream was very low in water so fishing was not good. Very close to I-77 also. Great place.

The town of Towsend is very close to the National Park and Cades Cove which was our primary target to see at the Smokey Mountains. Being able to walk down to the Little River was nice to see. As with most private campgrounds you are limited on space, with about 10 feet between rigs. There are several "residents" staying in the park and some rigs being stored. The remainder of the facilities were functional but dated. I am not really picky about these things. However my biggest complaint was the lack of value for the park. The up front rate of $38/night was reasonable enough, but the additional fee of $5.33/per child/per day was not reasonable. Having three children over 6yrs old I was charged $16/per day. Having paid that price, $54/night, I would have gone a different park and gotten better facilities and received a better value. No discounts at all were offered/available (October-peak season ). I had stayed here before and this is why I returned but will not do so in the future.

This is not much of a park. Unless you "upgrade" and park in the back of the parking lot you are crammed in together to the point that the awnings of the neighbor are within inches of your rig. The owner of the park could not care less about you. She is more interested in making sure that you spend money at her park. Don't get me wrong, it sounds great on the phone and her helper is wonderful. He made the stay bearable. But don't bother staying here. The facilities are not much. The only positive thing: it is close to the entrance to Yellowstone as promised. Recommend going to the Yellowstone campground down the street or somewhere else. Save yourself the frustration.

Nice clean park with great staff. Has big, well laid out sites. One negative: had cold showers 3 out of 5 times.
