We chose this campground for the NYC tour package offer. Our site was on the newer upper section which we recommend highly. The campground was great but I would like to give some info about the NYC tours. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and our guide. BUT please be forewarned that the tour is in a van, not a bus. The view is very limited. Also, we only had 7 passengers.Three of us were over 200 lbs and we were comfortable. Had the van been filled to capacity (11) it would have been an impossibly cramped ordeal. Be sure to tell the campground owners if you are a large person and request that be honored when booking the tour. Hopefully it will help.
Great place for kids. Not many sites available. Most are permanent and season sites. We enjoyed the pool (s) and recreation facilities. Better have a bike or scooter to get around if you want to tour the place. It's HUGE. Golf carts are all over the place!
The accommodations were wonderful. We backed up to the rapids on the Little Salmon River. We placed our screened canopy right on the edge and watched blue herons fishing, kids tubing and kayaks running the rapids. Only three cautions. 1. The bathrooms could have been better attended. 2. The dog restrictions of where you can walk them is too strict. They want you to walk the dog straight to the dog walk and then directly back to your site. In reality the dog will have done his business before getting to the walk area and we couldn't just walk around the park roads with our little guy. 3. Pool regulations are too strict. I took my granddaughter to the pool and we couldn't swim because 2 adults are to be present. We had to wait for others to come before using it. But again: it was a wonderful riverside site to enjoy. Peaceful was the order of the day.
If you like a super party atmosphere and being cramped like a sardine then go for it. We use our 27' c class to make day trips. The site was so cramped people had to move tables and tents so we could back in and pull out. If you are looking for quiet DO NOT go here.
